New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara

How much did you guys look at the film from last year's game against Green Bay to prepare for this week's game?

"We kind of looked at it. Personally, I don't really care about last year's game. It's a new season with new personnel. It's a new year, so, we'll look at it some gameplan wise but I'm looking at this as a new season with a new team and new energy. It's week one, so, we have to do what we need to do."

During training camp with fans, we saw more of your No. 41 jerseys than Drew Brees' No. 9 jerseys. What does it mean to you to be the face of the franchise now?

"I always see No. 41 jerseys because it is my jersey, so I am aware of that. As far as seeing the number of them, it is definitely love, and I appreciate our fans. Whether it's as the face of the franchise or whatever you want to call it, I'm just here to do my job and hopefully help us get wins. I appreciate the love from the fanbase. It definitely means a lot." ...

3 years later: Grading the 2021 Saints draft class

We’re closing in on the 2024 NFL draft, which is expected to be a critical juncture for the New Orleans Saints. If they can’t do a good job addressing their most important needs (with the few picks they own at the top of the draft), they’ll risk falling into a hole that’s almost impossible to climb back out of.

Fans saw firsthand how drafting poorly could set the team back in 2021. Lacking a quarterback and depth at wideout during Sean Payton’s last year as head coach (and, effectively, the organization’s top decision-maker) the Saints started their draft with a reach and finished it by rolling the dice on some ill-advised gambles. But they did manage to unearth some young talent along the way.

Conventional wisdom in the NFL says you need three years to thoroughly evaluate a draft class. The Saints’ 2021 crop is entering their fourth year in the pros now, so let’s take a look back and grade each selection:

The New Orleans Saints have had on-and-off success over the last eight years in the NFL draft. The hiring of Jeff Ireland coincides with this trend. It’s typically pretty solid with some deathly lows. The second round has arguably been their best round in that time frame. Leave Foskey as TBD and Ireland’s worst second rounder is Pete Werner. That’s a pretty strong hit rate.

As this year’s draft rolls around, Bleacher Report’s Ryan Fowler took a look at each team’s highs over the last ten years. Fowler formed an ultimate draft class of each team’s best selection from each round over the...

NEW ORLEANS — Did you forget the NFL offseason started in March and culminates with the draft starting this Thursday? It's ok if you did, the New Orleans Saints didn't do anything worth paying attention to anyway.

The Saints need to inject some excitement and reason to hope in 2024 to the dullest Saints offseason I can ever remember. The Saint's biggest moves were changing offensive coordinators and adding a defensive end, who had neck surgery the day after he signed with the Saints.

The Chase Young pictures with a photoshopped neck brace signing his Saints contract shall live in our...

The 2024 NFL Draft is about to get underway in a few days and the New Orleans Saints hold the 14th overall pick in the first round.

As he does every year, Saints GM Mickey Loomis held a pre-draft press conference to discuss all things draft related with the media. Here were some of the highlights from Loomis’ Tuesday presser:

“For us, we will look at, since we’re at 14, what it takes to get to 13? What’s it take to get to 12, 11, 10, nine, eight. That’s probably about where I’ll cut it off. Then I’ll go back, how far back are we willing to go? Generally, I’ll go ten spots in front and...

We’re rapidly approaching the 2024 NFL draft, and New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis shed some light on what the black and gold might be planning in his annual pre-draft press conference with local media. Loomis fielded questions on a variety of topics — mostly centered on the draft, but some focusing on other major issues with the team — and for the most part avoided tipping his hand.

Still, it’s worth checking in on what he was willing to divulge.

Trevor Penning’s NFL career has not gone as planned. The 2022 first-round pick only started one game in his rookie year, and the New Orleans Saints benched him after just six starts last season. Now he’s going into Year 3 without a spot guaranteed in the starting lineup. So what’s the plan for him? What can he do to ditch the dreaded “bust” label?

Will Penning move inside to guard in 2024, or is he still training to play at left tackle? Is he still seen as a tackle at all? How does Mickey Loomis answer that question?

“Yeah,” Loomis confirmed when asked exactly that during Tuesday’s...

Just how confident is Mickey Loomis that Marshon Lattimore will be playing for the New Orleans Saints this year? The team’s general manager fielded questions from local media during his pre-2024 draft press conference on Tuesday, and the topic of Lattimore’s status came up.

So how did Loomis react when asked whether he was confident Lattimore would be on the roster this year?

“Yeah,” Loomis said, but when asked if he’d have responded with anything but a positive confirmation, he replied with “What do you think?”

When asked a follow-up question, Loomis tried to tamp it down, saying that...

Props to Alvin Kamara for making the most of his offseason. The New Orleans Saints running back headlined “The Catch” sport fishing tournament in Florida last week, teaming up with Miami Dolphins star Raheem Mostert to win the whole thing. They competed with other NFL players including Kamara’s former Saints teammates Trey Hendrickson and Jameis Winston.

One of the highlights of the fishing rodeo came when Kamara and two of his teammates hooked three sailfish at the same time. Kamara described it as “Chaos. Organized chaos … It was great. Lot of moving parts, but I think we did it...
