The New Orleans Saints have selected defensive end Isaiah Foskey out of Notre Dame in the 2023 NFL draft. Foskey, a 6-foot-5, 265-pound player with 34 inch arms, and was clocked at a 4.58 in the 40 yard dash, is expected to bolster the Saints' defensive line with his explosive athleticism and versatility.

Within Chad Reuter's Overview in Foskey's Draft bio he had the following to say about the young DE:

Foskey was a top-210 recruit nationally when signing with Notre Dame out of famed De La Salle High School in California. He played in four games off the bench in 2019 (five tackles, one blocked punt) before becoming a productive reserve for all 12 games in the 2020 season (20 tackles, five for loss with 4.5 sacks). With Adetokunbo Ogundeji and Daelin Hayes off to the NFL for 2021, Foskey took over as the team's primary pass rusher, leading the Irish with 12.5 tackles for loss among his 52 total stops in 13 starts, tying for 10th in the FBS with 11 sacks while also tying for the national lead with six forced fumbles. He was a second-team All-American in 2022 and a finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award as the nation's top defensive end after leading the squad with 14 tackles for loss and tying for sixth in the FBS with 11 sacks among his 45 tackles in 12 starts. He also blocked the third and fourth punts of his career. Foskey opted out of the team's bowl game" Also in the bio, “He’s a really productive rusher and he’s still learning how to do it, so I think his upside is really high.” -- Personnel executive for NFC team"

Foskey had an impressive college career at Notre Dame, where he played in 35 games over three seasons. He also showcased his speed and agility by blocking two punts during his time with the Fighting Irish.

With the Saints, Foskey will likely join a defensive line that already includes star defensive end Cameron Jordan. Together, they potentially form a formidable pass rush that will put pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

One of Foskey's biggest strengths is his ability to rush the passer from both the outside and inside positions. His quickness and agility make him difficult to block, and he has a variety of moves that he uses to get past offensive linemen. He also has good instincts and is able to read plays quickly, allowing him to disrupt running plays in addition to rushing the passer.

Foskey's selection by the Saints is a testament to the team's commitment to building a strong defense. The team has historically been known for its high-powered offense, but in recent years, they have made a concerted effort to improve their defense. Foskey's addition is a step in the right direction.

Foskey's RAS score was the 3rd highest amongst defensive end prospects in the 2023 draft scoring an impressive 9.61.

In addition to his on-field abilities, Foskey is also known for his strong work ethic and dedication to the game. He has a great attitude and is always looking for ways to improve his game. This bodes well for his future with the Saints, as he will undoubtedly be looking to make an impact on the team as quickly as possible.

Foskey has the potential to be a key contributor to the team's defense for years to come, and his combination of size, speed, and agility make him a player to watch in the coming seasons. With Foskey on the field, the Saints may have a formidable pass rush that will strike fear into the hearts of their opponents.

They competed with other NFL players including Kamara’s former Saints teammates Trey Hendrickson and Jameis Winston.

The New Orleans Saints still have needs heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, but many can still be solved. Since Dennis Allen took over as head coach, the Saints showed the ability to identify the biggest need on the team and draft a solution. This was shown in 2022 with the picks of Trevor Penning and Chris Olave and the draft picks of Bryan Bresee and Isaiah Foskey in 2023. Tackle and wide receiver were by far the biggest need in 2022, and defensive tackle and edge rusher were the biggest need in 2023. Although some of these players have not fully worked out, the team still drafted what was...

The Atlanta Falcons are facing serious tampering allegations with the possibility of losing draft picks, per ESPN reporter Adam Schefter. The tampering allegations stem from the Falcons’ signing of former free-agent Kirk Cousins.

Both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Falcons are currently under investigation for tampering. According to Schefter, the discipline for both teams is “likely to involve draft picks.” The league could announce disciplinary actions as early as this week.

Atlanta currently holds the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. They have a total of eight draft picks...

Will the Saints draft former college teammates again in 2024?

  • News source: John Sigler

It may seem far-fetched to think the New Orleans Saints could pick multiple players from the same school in the 2024 NFL draft. After all, teams are picking from a pool of hundreds of players, and even if the Saints own nine selections that’s just a drop in the bucket of this year’s 257 picks. The odds of two college teammates continuing to compete together on the same team after turning pro can’t be good.

But it’s more likely than you’d think. In the 57 years (and 57 drafts) since the team was founded in 1967, the Saints have double-dipped by picking players from the same schools in 22 different drafts. And some years they went back to the same wells in the same draft classes by picking pairs of players from multiple programs. Obviously that’s easier to do in the early days when the draft had 17 rounds, or 12, rather than just seven like we’ve come to know during the last 30 years.

In total, the Saints have picked two players from the same school a surprising 33 times. They once drafted three players from Michigan in the same year (Paul Seal, Larry Cipa, and Don Coleman in 1974). Since Mickey Loomis began running their draft in 2003 they’ve double-dipped like this six times, and twice in his first year on the job. Most recently they drafted a pair of Ohio State Buckeyes in 2016, both in the second round: wide receiver Michael Thomas and safety Vonn Bell.

Who else has taken this path? Here’s the full list:
