With free agency and the draft completed, and OTAs and minicamps scheduled for the next month and a half, here's a closer look at the depth chart for the New Orleans Saints:

OFFENSE

Note: Starters in bold

Quarterback (3): Drew Brees, Taysom Hill, Tom Savage

The backup battle should be one of the more fascinating summer storylines after the Saints let veteran Chase Daniel go in free agency. Sean Payton is apparently so enamored with Hill's dual-threat potential that he told Fox (Sports) last year that Hill could be Brees' successor -- even though he didn't join the Saints until after he was cut by the Packers as an undrafted rookie last September.

Running back (6): Mark Ingram, Alvin Kamara, Trey Edmunds, Boston Scott, Jonathan Williams, Daniel Lasco

The New Orleans Saints report to training camp today, meaning that a lot of our questions are about to be answered. Here’s a look at the biggest things to watch.

A freaky fast athlete who has experience in the UFL, Austin will provide receiver depth and the chance to earn a spot.

The New Orleans Saints, unfortunately, are no strangers to the injury bug. However, these three players could play pivotal roles for the team in 2024 if the opportunity arises.

After starting on the practice squad in 2023, the former Las Vegas Raiders first-round pick became a reliable backup safety and special teamer for the Saints throughout the course of the season. Through nine games Abram tallied 14 solo tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 1 interception. Though he’s had some rough moments in pass coverage, Abram’s willingness to deliver hits and make tackles has made him an intriguing...

Just 47 days stand between right now and when the New Orleans Saints open up the 2024 regular season against the Carolina Panthers. With that, Khaleke Hudson is the Saints Player of the Day 47 in our countdown.

Here’s what to know about Hudson, a newcomer to the Saints who fittingly wears the No. 47 jersey:

2024 will mark the first year in which Hudson has played for a team in his NFL career not named the Washington Commanders. Hudson is expected to add depth and some value on special teams, something that’s obviously an asset after he factored in on 73% of Washington’s special teams...

Days before training camp, the New Orleans Saints announced the signing of former Birmingham Stallions receiver Kevin Austin Jr. to a one-year deal.

With WR Chris Olave set to start training camp on the non-football injury list while dealing with minor back tightness, it doesn’t hurt to add an extra body to the receiver room in the meantime.

At the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, Austin Jr. ran a 4.43-second 40-yard dash, while measuring in at 6′2″, 200 lbs. After signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an UDFA, he has yet to log a snap in an NFL game. Last year with the Stallions, Austin...

It’s a little late to make earth-shaking moves, but the New Orleans Saints are adding a new wide receiver. Kevin Austin Jr. signed with the team before the start of training camp, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Austin lands with the Saints on a one-year deal. He played college football at Notre Dame and had his best season in 2021. In 13 games, he caught 48 passes for 888 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Austin went undrafted in 2022 but signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars that summer. After he was waived by the Jaguars, he landed with the UFL’s Birmingham Stallions, where he caught 15...

Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder recently published a piece where they predicted one breakout player from each NFL team. It can be incredibly difficult to predict a breakout player, let alone predict one for 32 NFL teams.

For the New Orleans Saints, B/R settled on cornerback Paulson Adebo as their breakout player in 2024. Here is Holder’s reasoning for the former Stanford Cardinal as the pick:

Training camp battle spotlight: Kendre Miller vs. Jamaal Williams

The battle between Kendre Miller and Jamaal Williams gains more importance as Alvin Kamara’s contract situation remains unresolved. The start of training camp on July 24 is the next checkpoint in the situation. Either he and the New Orleans Saints agree on an extension or Kamara shows up to camp on the same deal.

Once camp begins we can look at how Kamara maneuvers the situation. He could sit out or come to practice. It’s been reported that Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love will show up but not practice until he gets a new deal. That is also an option for Kamara.

It’s unlikely...
