If she makes it past this and gets the nomination, she will be the next president, because this is her achilles heel (and because it's amazingly obvious that the Benghazi anger is total garbage).

It's a nothingburger, and an intergovernmental pie fight. Like Colin Powell and others, Hillary ran state out of her house and had a private server.

Because of this they changed the law last year so it would be illegal to do it now.

Whether docs were classified or not is irrelevant. By all accounts, the docs were not classified when she had them.

This is pure politics, driven from Republican Congressional pressure on agencies and the loser hydra that is BENGHAZI !! investigations by Hairdoo Gowdy and before him, Darrell "Grand Theft Auto" Issa.

Oh, and whatever happened to Lois Lerner? :LMAO: [mod edit wr]

Being that she's not the only one to ever do this, I really wonder how far they want to tug on this thread. How many Senators have private e-mails?

The Founding Fathers should have included an e-mail retention policy in the Constitution.

You should run this past General Petraeus and ask him what kind of nothing burger it is.

As for Lerner, and the rest of this administration, I've learned that if Nixon was like them there would have been no impeachment. You just lie, delay, destroy, and misplace and two years later proclaim it "old news". Or in Hillary's case, hide the records until the statute of limitations expires.

I'm stealing this from Wikipedia (I know...), because it summarizes the issue perfectly.

Quote:
The United States does not have British-style Official Secrets Act; instead, several laws protect classified information, including the Espionage Act of 1917, the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 and the Intelligence Identities Protection Act of 1982. A 2013 report to Congress noted that "...criminal statutes that may apply to the publication of classified defense information ... have been used almost exclusively to prosecute individuals with access to classified information (and a corresponding obligation to protect it), who make it available to foreign agents, or to foreign agents who obtain classified information unlawfully while present in the United States. While prosecutions appear to be on the rise, leaks of classified information to the press have relatively infrequently been punished as crimes, and we are aware of no case in which a publisher of information obtained through unauthorized disclosure by a government employee has been prosecuted for publishing it."[3] The legislative and executive branches of government, including US presidents, have frequently leaked classified information to journalists.[4][5][6][7] Congress has repeatedly resisted or failed to pass a law that generally outlaws disclosing classified information. Most espionage law only criminalizes national defense information; only a jury can decide if a given document meets that criterion, and judges have repeatedly said that being "classified" does not necessarily make information become related to the "national defense".[8][9] Furthermore, by law, information may not be classified merely because it would be embarrassing or to cover illegal activity; information may only be classified to protect national security objectives.[10]
An article on Petraeus...

Quote:
But court papers filed with the plea deal stated Petraeus in 2011 unlawfully gave Broadwell the black books of classified information including identities of covert officers, code word information, war strategy, intelligence capabilities, diplomatic talks and information from high-level White House National Security Council meetings.
War strategy, covert officers identities, and intelligence capabilities are clearly National Defense. I don't think anything Hillary had counts under that scrutiny.

Little known fact: Thomas Jefferson used to save notes and bits of information in his Drafts folder so it didn't get deleted after 90 days.

Wrong.

Petraeus had and shared classified docs with his mistress biographer. Docs Hillary had were not classified when she first got them. Having a home server was not illegal then either.

Petreaus should've been court martialed and jailed, but since he was a conservative elite, all he had to do was pay a $100,000 fine. And guess who got Petreaus the paltry slap on the wrist?

That would be the Clinton's lawyer David Kendall.

I think there is current evidence the docs were classified at the time she received them, thus were supposed to be on secure government servers.

Two things that may be worse. The smartest woman in the world couldn't identify sensitive documents that may expose secrets and techniques, even if not yet classified she should have realized the problem. And after being classified her attorney was walking around with said documents on a USB drive.

This could have been a nothing issue except for her indignation.
The cover up could be worse than the crime.
She oughta know that

The mistress Patreaus shared the information with was employed by the Us government and had high security clearance level for the information he shared. She was not a need to know person for that information which is where the issue was.

Not even close to the same as what Clinton has done.

What Clinton did is worse than this Marine who tried to saves lives and yet he is being held accountable for sending classified information through his email account. There are scores of examples of people being criminally charged and convicted for doing less than what Clinton has done.

Marine under fire: Will the punishment fit the crime? - CNN.com

Quote:
Jason Brezler is an elite New York firefighter. He is also a highly decorated officer in the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve, who has served four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

So why is Maj. Brezler facing possible discharge on less than honorable terms after serving 13 years with the Marines?

He is accused of mishandling classified information and faces an investigation that could determine his future.
Quote:
"Maj. Brezler was in a position where lives were in danger and time was of the essence, and in the end his assessment of the threat proved accurate," wrote New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in a letter to the Marines.

LOLwut? I assure you her job description was not about doing pleasurably slutty things for (the married with children) General or writing a book to profit from.

There goes your point that she had high security clearance.

If Clinton did anything bad, and the bad things you claim she did are self-evident, you would not need to introduce a false equivalence to bolster your point. I started reading your linked article but I stopped as soon it revealed that all Brezler faced was separation, not criminal proceedings.

And by the way, here's a more recent update on Brezler that is better news:

Officer recommended for separation takes Marine Corps to court
