Sure, it depends on who we get at #10.
assuming we draft defense in the first 2 rounds,
if we get Ellis, I'd take the best CB available in the 2nd (Flowers, Cason)
or the best LB available (J. Mayo, P. Wheeler)

If we get Rivers, I'd take the best DT available (Sims, Laws, Bryant) or the best DB (K. Phillips, A. Cason)

If we get Jenkins/McKelvin/Talib/Cromartie, I'd take the best DT or LB available.

I really liked Mayo & Laws in the Senior Bowl & Combine. Mayo has played 3 positions in 3 seasons at Tennessee. Laws is a little short, but has the motor of a LB. Both would be solid picks. Cason and Phillips are both DBs that were ranked high at the beginning of the season, but have slipped due to average senior seasons. Both are excellent grabs in the 2nd. auburn DT Pat Sims is also a steal if he gets to us in the 2nd.

Who do you guys want in the 2nd?

I'd like to see any of these options...

1. First Round - Ellis Second Round - Mayo/Flowers/Porter

or

2. First Round - Rivers Second Round - Laws/Sims/Moore/Flowers/Porter

I want Cason who would be an absolute steal in the second, or Brandon Flowers who I think is the most complete and NFL ready CB in the draft.
If not I think Dan Connor might slip and we could grab him.
Or DaJuan Morgan who can start at CB or FS.
Trevor Laws is better than Kentwan Balmer and he would also be a huge steal.

I'm pretty sure it'll be Early Doucet or Fred Davis though. Maybe O Line, Sam Baker or Carl Nicks. Baker can play either tackle or guard so he would be a good pick. Doucet would suit us and be the 3 or 4 WR we need to upgrade Copper/Moore/Henderson.

Ah yes Tracy Porter, the Mike McKenzie clone. almost forgot about him.
I like Laws, but not Moore. We would get along just fine in the war room.

We need youth at DT and corner. We are set at D-end, obviously and the linebackers are looking pretty good with the signing of Morgan and Vilma. That makes Simoneau and Shanle great depth at each position. I wouldn't mind younger guys there but in the first 2 rounds I would rather us go either dt 1st then corner or the other way around and take a corner first.

I'm also debating if in the second the Saints should go for a corner or maybe take there chances on Phillips if he is there. I have a feeling this guy is going to be a major steal in the draft. I would even try and trade up a few slots with that #2 to get him.

Early Doucet or Fred Davis

I want defense in the 2nd also, but both these guys would help the offense....I think Fred Davis is going to be the next Vernon Davis/Antonio Gates. the guy runs routes like a polished WR. He's going to gash some poor defense inside the seams all day long. I dunno about Doucet, I'd take defense before WR. Don't forget our "Bonus" "Rookie" WR Robert Meachem is cleared to play.

If not I think Dan Connor might slip and we could grab him.

If we trade down to 15-20, Curtis Lofton could be there. He reminds me a lot of Sam Mills. He will certainly be gone by the early 2nd Rd.

The next Vernon Davis? That's not a compliment.

He's done nothing so far.

I think we'll go after Dorsey, Ellis, or Rivers.

A good CB will be there in the second round.

You have listed 6 yourself:

Cason Jenkins McKelvin Talib Cromartie Flowers,

There may at least 2 more under consideration, don't ask me to name them, LOL

The first round miss, DT or LB must be the 3rd round pick.

Just my opinion, of course.

I like Lofton, but we have Vilma/Morgan/Simoneau/Mitchell....I don't believe I'm saying this, but the inside LB situation is getting a little tight here.......wow........*pinching self!*

save this post and see if you have the courage to re post it next offseason. Vernon Davis is the prototype 21st century recieving TE.
Fred Davis has his blocking problems like Vernon, but his ability to get open is impressive.
BTW Vernon Davis scored a TD against us last year.

True, but some of them are expendable if we would land Lofton.

We just lost our ST demon Gleason, and maybe Lofton could take that spot.

BTW, before Vilma I was looking for Mitchell to challenge this year. He really is a hard hitter, and has good football speed.

Uhh yeah, he has nice potential. But that's it.

He hasn't done anything in his 2 years in the league to warrant that Top 10 pick that SanFran spent on him, much less does he deserve to be in the same sentence as Antonio Gates, as you wrote.

Robert Meachem has really nice potential too, but it sure wouldn't be fair to compare any incoming rookie WRs to Meachem, while meaning it to be a compliment.

Potential doesn't equate to success, no matter how fast he runs a 40 yard dash.

Matt Forte in the second would make me very happy

See my signature for my thoughts, but if Devin Thomas is there in the 2nd, I would not hesitate turning the card in
