I recently read a thread that asked if you can name 14 WR's better than Colston. After going to the link and reading the story, I have to wonder if this writer has ever played football. I also read the 84 comments from various fans about who should be in the top ten for WR's this year. Of course, the majority of them didnt list Colston in the top ten. Since this ticked me off, I decided to check the stats myself. Its amazing how little recognition Colston gets from sportswriters and opposing fans(hence, he was snubbed for the Pro Bowl). I combined the stats for 06 and 07 for the top 16 WR's in the NFL during that span(the length of time Colston has played in the NFL). These stats go from greatest amount of recieving yards to least amount of recieving yards over the past 2 years:

1. Reggie Wayne 190 catches, 2820 yards, 19tds.
2. Ocho Cinco 180 catches, 2809 yards, 15 tds.
3. T. O. 166 catches, 2535 yards, 28 tds.
4. Torry Holt 186 catches, 2377 yards, 17 tds
5. Larry Fitzgerald 169 catches, 2355 yards, 16 tds.
6. Donald Driver 174 catches, 2343 yards, 10 tds.
7. Marques Colston 168 catches(NFL record), 2240 yards, 19 tds.
8. Braylon Edwards 141 catches, 2173 yards, 22 tds.
9. Steve Smith 170 catches, 2168 yards, 15 tds.
10. Anquan Boldin 154 catches, 2056 yards, 13 tds.
11. Randy Moss 140 catches, 2046 yards, 26 tds.
12. Plexiglass Burress 133 catches, 2013 yards, 22 tds.
13. Andre Johnson 163 catches, 1998 yards, 13 tds.
14. Hines Ward 145 catches, 1707 yards, 13 tds.
15. Brandon Marshall 122 catches, 1634 yards, 9 tds.
16. Marvin Harrison 115 catches, 1613 yards, 13 tds.

I know many people will say that Marvin Harrison, Moss Anquan, and Andre Johnson were hurt during some of the two seasons and that's why their numbers are down. They must remember that Colston's rookie season, he was leading the LEAGUE in recieving yards thru week 13 before getting hurt. He's probably been hurt 7 or 8 games of his short career, but only missed 3 or 4 of those.

My other argument is this:
Andre Johnson had Eric Moulds and Andre Davis.
Marvin Harrison had Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne and vice versa.
Brandon Marshall had Brandon Stokely and Javon Walker.
Hines Ward had Heath Miller and Santonio Holmes.
Plexiglass had Amani Toomer and Shockey.
Steve Smith had Drew Carter and Keyshawn for 06.
Fitzgerald and Boldin had each other.
Donald Driver had Greg Jennings, Robert Ferguson, and Bubba Franks
T. O. had Terry Glenn in 06 and Crayton and Whitten in 07.
Ocho had TJ.
Holt had Isaac Bruce.
Randy Moss had Ronald Curry and Joey Porter in Oakland and Stallworth, Caldwell, Welker, Troupe and Faulk in New England.

All these WR's had another high caliber WR lining up along side of them in 06 and 07. Who the heck did Colston have. Any of the above mentioned are better than Henderson and Patten(i like patten, just making a point). People can say Colston had Horn, but that was only 6 games in 06 that Horn played in. Colston has been double teamed his whole short career because he has no one to take any pressure off him(Meachum will be that guy this year). Colston is the Saints passing game. All this being said and true, opposing fans and sportswriters still give Colston no props. Well, Colston is a top ten WR in my opinion, and he will be a top 2 WR within the next few years!! Just my opinion though. What do you guys think.

lol.. something how people no that other thread were saying holt was has been.. but he's still above him in the yardage..and catches.

I have to be honest, these guys are better WRs than Colston. Andre Johnson is a top 3 WR and Anquan Boldin is extremely underrated.

Most of those 2nd guys are not high caliber.

Not to mention alot of those guys were not consistent. The players after Colston have not been as consistent as him( in last 2 years). I know he isn't a veteran yet but he has to get his due for no slumps so far.

It's been two years, guys. Give it some time. Quit whining. Just be glad he produces so well for us. That's what matters.

He'll produce again this year, and I'm sure THEN he'll be in the top 10 in EVERY WR rankings.

common sense strikes!!!

seriously, alot of the WRs mentioned above him have been around longer......they have earned their stripes......it's nothing to get  about

Exactly. I don't see why these rankings are such a big deal. They are pretty much true.

We all know how great Colston is, and we are blessed to have him.

I have to agree in that Colston only has 2 seasons in his belt, but once next year and the year after happen, he'll be in the top 4 in discussions, with Meachem being the next person we talk about. Just speculation and hopefulness. WHO DAT!!!!!!!

I gaurentee you that he'd be #3 on that list if he didnt miss 3 games in 06 and the rest of the bears game in 07.
In the Bears game Colston left halftime with 98 yds recieving 2 tds. He didnt get back in.
In 2006 he missed the freakin Bengals game where Brees threw for 510 freakin yds, and then also the ATL game where Brees threw for 350 yds. You can only imagine how many yds & tds Colston wouldve had those 2 games.

WHAT????? :nono:

I can honestly say that i would not trade Colston for any WR in the NFL.... Would ya'll???
