Does anyone know what round he is projected to go in?

I am a big LSU fan and have been watching him simply due to the fact he plays in the SEC. He was greatly over shadowed by D Mac and Jones, but I believe he compares favorably to Brian Leonard from Rutgers (now with the rams) last season. With people on the board suggesting we take Hester to be the eventual replacement for deuce I can set my :homer:ism aside and would defiantly rather have Hillis as the heir apparent to Deuce.<O:p</O:p

RB Peyton Hillis (6-1, 237): Ran the 40 in 4.57 and 4.58, had a 35-inch vertical jump, 4.24 short shuttle, ran position drills and kept his numbers from the combine for everything else. He looked good but dropped several passes.

I know it says he dropped several passes, but in the games I watched he had serviceable hands out of the backfield. If there are razorback fans on the board what are your thoughts on him? Any character issues and what are your opinions on him as a player.

Edit..... Checked his stats he averaged 5.6 per rushing attempt and had 347 rushing yards..... also had 537 yards reciveing for an 11 yard average not to bad for a guy who dropped passes at his workout.<O:p</O:p

I thought Hillis was a fullback? I like both Hillis and Hester as players, but wouldn't want either of them on the team as a starting HB.

He's a tweener. Not fast or quick enough to be a tailback and lacks the size and power to be a fullback. Maybe he could beef up and become a servicable fullback, but I just don't see a place for him on our roster. He was used more as an H back at Arkansas. The quarterbacks were bad and couldn't throw the ball downfield, so he'd just run out into the flat and wait for the swing pass. He made some amazing catches for the Hogs though. He's got really good hands, despite his dropped passes at the combine.

i think the only reason nobody would want him because hes like hester, doesn't have that "look" to him to be a halfback in the nfl, he has the "look" of a fullback, i wonder why

yeah 4.57 is too slow for a halfback, wait, there were other guys at the combine who did similiar or slower, i guess they should beef up and become fullback also, mike hart must be a tweener also, 4.67, but draft predictions have him going anywhere from 2nd to 4th round, what does hillis lack that hart has?

How about production? Starting experience at the HB position?

Nothing. IMO

People for some reason think everyone that plays HB in the NFL run like 4.4 or 4.3 last time I checked Emmit Smith the all time leading rusher ran a 4.71 quick someone jump in a time machine and tell the Cowboys to switch him to H-back or Fullback before something bad happens.

No, but the question asked was what separates Hillis form Hart. I don't know what Jones has to do with anything.

yes you are right, in his whole college career he has only had experience at fullback, you got me there, he didnt produce either, i think i was watching another peyton hillis, im sorry for the confusion

Maybe starting experience was the wrong description to use. Jones did have plenty of playing time from the HB position. Towards the end of the Alabama game last year, McFadden was dominating till he left with a concussion. Hillis came in and could not gain a first down on an Alabama defensive line that had been beaten up and down the field in the second half.

Hillis is going to be a hell of a player. I did my first two years of law school at Arkansas, and he was probably the most valuable player on that team until McFadden jumped on the scene Hillis' Junior year. The great part about Hillis is his versatility. He has great hands...his offensive coordinator, who coached with the Cowboys...said he had Terry Glenn like hands. He even returned punts for Arkansas because they didn't trust anyone else to catch the ball as much as him. He'll be a 4th or 5th round guy and he'll play in the NFL for 10 years because he can play FB/TE/HB and he'll play on all special teams units.
