This would be good new, if true. Per Rotoworld:

Bengals beat reporter Chuck Ludwig says he's "absolutely, positively convinced" that the team will use its first-round pick on an offensive tackle.

Tackles that could be deemed worthy of the No. 9 overall pick include Ryan Clady (Boise State), Chris Williams (Vanderbilt), and Jeff Otah (Pittsburgh). Jake Long will be long gone. The Bengals are concerned with Levi Jones' knees.

Wow, that has got to be the most obvious smokescreen I've heard of for this draft. The Bengals know D Line is their weakest spot. Can you imagine the Bengals passing on Sedrick Ellis to take Ryan Clady or Jeff Otah...NO. Just no.

Err, ummm....

"With the first pick of the 2006 Draft, the Houston Texans take Reggie Bu... (cough, cough), uhhh... wait a minute... THEY DID WHAT??? Ladies and gentlemen, the Houston Texans take Mario Williams."

Can you imagine their passing on Reggie Bush? NO! JUST NO!

/sarcasm off

Wazzup,

You may be right, but you can NEVER guarantee what teams might be thinking.

We passed on Marcus Trufant to take Jonathan "Triple Cheeseburger" Sullivan.

Don't see that happening. However, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that they might step up and take Mendenhall over a DT.

NS- Bengals want OT in draft???

PRIORITY NO. 1: PROTECT CARSON PALMER

You name the area, any area, and the Cincinnati Bengals need help.

Not just at one position, but everywhere …

… everywhere except quarterback, where Carson Palmer and Ryan Fitzpatrick are 1-2 with Jeff Rowe (I call him “Jethro”) and Jordan Palmer battling it out for No. 3.

Folks, I’m here to tell ya that I’m absolutely, positively convinced the Bengals should-must-will draft an offensive tackle with the No. 9 overall pick in the first round of the 2008 NFL draft on April 26.

Why? Because left tackle Levi Jones and right tackle Willie Anderson are hobbling around on bum knees and likely won’t be able to play a 16-game season.

And because Stacy Andrews, anointed with the franchise tag ($7.455 million), refuses to sign a long-term contract and will likely leave in 2009 as an unrestricted free agent.

The team’s No. 1 priority must always be keeping Palmer well-protected. That’s why an athletic OT is the way to go in the first round. Other needs (DT, C, LB, FS, SS, KR) can be addressed later....

Article goes on to say Bengals should NOT draft Dorsey or Ellis. I found it interesting since so many Saints fans, myself included, have advocated moving up to keep Cincy from drafting the DT we all crave. I would cheese myself if Cincy selected Clady and Ellis fell into our lap.

This was already posted, but I think its a smoke screen.

If Ellis was there when they picked, it would be a steal. If they take Otah it will be a reach.

Won't make any sense in the world.

DOH! I am sorry. This is what I get for working all day and not getting a chance to keep up with SR. Rotoworld updated and this was at the top so I thought it was fresh news. I scanned the front page and did not see it. I am blind. I see it now. Please merge or simply delete this one. I will read the other thread and post there.

I can follow the guys logic and it has merit. There are some that worry about Jammal Brown's knees and Stinchcomb's ability to deal with a speed rusher. If Brees goes down, we are done. I do not think Clady is worth the pick however. He scored low on his Wonderlic and struggled with the Bench Press at the combine. Chris Williams from Vandy is the better LT prospect and Otah is slow. He may be a mauler, but he will struggle with the edge speed rusher just as Stinchcomb does for us now. I can hope that Cincy goes with Clady; he seems to be the consensus #2 OT prospect and some how-some way Ellis or Dorsey falls.
