Pick by Pat Kirwan for the Saints on his new Mock draft. Cinci takes Ellis.

WE have to move up to get Ellis, we will probably wind up with a corner though staying put. I can't believe the BS coming out of Cinci that they may take an OT

I liked Jenkins early. I've changed my pick over the months to Rivers, then a possible trade up for Ellis. OK, I don't have any idea who we will actually go after.

Mike D says Jenkins is a prima donna (my words, not his).

I'll respect his opinion and take a pass.

All good CB's are prima donna's. Name a pro-bowl caliber CB that doesn't toot his own horn.

My statements weren't based on him "toot his own horn"

Mike's statement, in case you missed it here on SR:

"Mike Jenkins I would pass on him at 10. Some team will take him in Round 1, but he plays up and down to the competition and he is a “diva” player on and off the field and wants special treatment from coaches. He has excellent man-to-man cover skills and he physically is well built and fast, but he just doesn’t play hard each week. He can turn out to be the very best of the cornerbacks in this draft or he may be just an average NFL player. That is part of his makeup."

Form your own opinion, I have mine.

Champ Bailey, although he may very well indeed toot his own horn, i can't recall him doing it. However you are right, by and large they are all pretty much prima donna's

Mike Jenkins has had an off the field incident or two (run in with the Po-Po's). He constantly trash talks on the field, so much so that sometimes he gets himself out of the game. Supposedly he is also turning team's off in the interview process already.

Also, he plays up and down with the level of competition and really doesn't like to play the run.

He won't even be close to BPA when we pick. Pass.

If Ellis makes it to 7th (New England) I think the Saints may use their 3rd to move up... there's no way he gets past Cincy.

ddd's point is a very good one presented by mike d. it's not that being a primadonna is a bad thing. it's that he(jenkins) plays up or down to his level of competition and what's more is that HE WANTS SPECIAL TREATMENT FROM THE COACHES. these are from a reputable source of mike d's. he (mike d)doesn't put it out there unless it has a great deal of credibility. imo- he and talib are char issues and if we go corner i'd much rather drc or mckelvin who don't have char issues.

No I have read the statement. And I stated my opinion. Let me clarify, I have not seen an elite caliber CB in the NFL that does not feel he is a prima donna since Deon make it popular to act in such a way. My definition of a prima dona or diva:

He is confident and sometime full of himself. Expect others to treat him this way. Like to tout himself, talk about himself in the third person, i.e toot his own horn. He thinks he is all-world. It is all the same. Diva, prima donna, whatever you want to call it, the majority of the elite cornerbacks have a similar attitude. And Mike Jenkins probably is the same way. That does not guarantee him success in the NFL though.

OK, I see your points.

I also see you are 30 years old. The CBs that played this game lined up and did it without the mouth. Bailey was mentioned above, but there were lots of great CBs in the past.

Today, heck, I don't know what makes this crap acceptable, and I doubt the coaches find it acceptable.

I don't really understand these things, I'm getting to be an old dog, but when you say:

"I have not seen an elite caliber CB in the NFL that does not feel he is a prima donna ",

I sorry to hear it, because in my life I have seen them.

I am pretty sure it was T-Rock who made our pick this week,:ezbill: I think Pat had us taking Rivers last week. :9: They will do a mock draft each Friday until the draft.

Jenkins is 5'10", has some off-field baggage, and is reported to have a questionable attitude. Pass.

As someone who has seen every game Jenkins has played the past 4 years I can call absolute BS on a couple of those things... I also really wouldn't call him a prima donna from the times I've met the guy... Very much a family guy, not always talking himself up... But whatever - guys need dirt on every player and since he has so few holes in his game they'll make up garbage about his character...

I would pass on him at pick 10, but he might be worth the effort if he falls to late in the 1st round or into the 2nd round.
