Opening Night, a new year with new possibilities. I want no mention of Canseco, Steroids, Bonds, Mitchell, Specter and all that stuff. I want to hear the crack of the bat, the slap of the ball on leather, the scream of the crowd after a strikeout, the beauty of a one-handed sliding catch, the sweet science of a curveball that paints the corner, a head first slide into third that barely beats the throw from right field, the wide grin of a young boy who catches his first foul ball, Wrigley Field on a saturday afternoon, the Green Monster,... baseball. Some may not understand, like Dave Barry said, "If a woman has to choose between catching a fly ball and saving an infant's life, she will choose to save the infant's life without even considering if there are men on base." Here's to Opening Night!
Play ball!

Braves are already down 2-0 after one inning.

Only one game tonight, right? I'm looking forward to a full schedule so I can waste life while I sit in front of my computer and watch box scores all night hoping my fantasy players go nuts.

yep one tonight and a full slate tomorrow. I took a half day so I could watch all the games on multiple screens at the local establishment:mwink: .

That sounds like something that I may do. The one place here next to the hotel doesn't seem like they'll be showing much baseball. I think I might call it a day after lunch if they have some games on. I'm assuming there will be if you're taking a half day off. I love baseball. I just wish Louisiana had a team because I no longer have a favorite anymore after McGwire was traded to the Cardinals. I was an A's fan when they had McGwire, Canseco, the Hendersons, Eckersly and that Stewart pitcher. I think Walt Weiss and Mike Gallego played for them also. :hihi:

Nationals win 3-2 with Zimmerman Walk off HR to beat the Braves.

Lets go Cubbies tomorrow

I'm a big Angels fan. I've been here since 1986 after leaving New Orleans. I've followed them since then. There were many lean years and I'd only attend maybe 1 or 2 games a year. But it's been a good run for the last 5-7 years. I now attend about 10 games a year. The reality is it helps pass the time until football season. Now if the Hornets can stay on their roll all the way to the NBA finals and my Ducks can roll deep into the Stanley Cup playoffs then we will almost be ready for training camp. ;)

What a great game, the Braves are my team, but I enjoy watching the Nats and pull for them when they are not playing the Braves. I think the Nationals are going to surprise some people this year. The Cubs lost their opener, too, so it looks like our teams will both be playing catch-up!

The beginning of baseball means the months get longer until football season.
