I saw this video on the news this morning and I was floored. 2 guys played lookouts while they beat this girl for a half an hour. One of them even came in to tell the girls to keep it down.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- Six teen girls lured a former friend to a home and ambushed her, taking turns pounding on her face and body for 30 minutes until she was unconscious as someone videotaped the violence, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

The attackers claim that the girl was talking trash about them on the internet.

I couldn't understand their complex language of clicks and screeches, but it appeared that the large Alpha was punishing her for being superior in appearance, and the remainder of the herd was following blindly out of fear of similar retribution.

Once again, I am greatly disturbed by the idiocy which compels people to video criminal behavior. Proper punishment: lock them up in a men's prison.

They should get 10-20 years each. These girls have no conscience. They are a danger to everyone around them. Lock them up for a good long while, with DAILY counselling as part of the sentence. Then post THAT on YouTube, MySpace, etc. Let every selfish, violent, little sleaze like them know exactly what happens when they decide they are the only humans that count in this world. Unbelievable. They should also be required to pay for the medical treatments the girl has to receive - and maybe even make a monthly payment, however small, to her family to remind them of what they did and that the consequences of one moment last forever.

And how much do you want to bet at least one set of their parents will be telling everyone what good girls they all are and how unfair it all is? If it were my daughter that had done something like this, I'd be locking the cell myself (and probably checking myself into a mental ward next). Don't get me started on that...

Well her point really was that it's being over blown. Much like the previous similar situation I agree. Kids do stupid things. Punishment deserved? Absolutely. Ruin their life over something that is fairly common among kids (not the recording part but the jumping part)? Hell no!

Probation, maybe a trip to a female prison to scare the heck out of them and force their parents to pay the medical bills.

I would send them in for 15 days hard time. Enough to scare and straighten them out. Plus, they have a record. A slap on the wrist can't equate to 30 minutes of assault. 6 to 1, no less. I don't care how old they are (and for the record, they're 17 and 18).

With probation they have a record as well and it sets the stage for stiffer and swifter penalties if they do something like this again. However, it doesn't just destroy their lives like a lot of ideas for punishment I'm hearing.

15 days I can see. That's not a big deal. However, 10 -20 years for an act of immature stupidity? If we were doing that when I was growing up half the people I knew would still be in jail.

I don't know what would be worse; being pummeled by that girl or having to listen to her screech for 30 minutes.
