Turn it over to the NFL network to see the dome patrol listed number 1 from their top ten list. Its a year old segment but hey... can't ever get enough!

It's over now... but you can catch it here :)

I love the part where sam mills just takes the ball outta the eagles quarterbacks hands. They show the quarterback going to throw it and his arm goes forward with the camera and then they pan behind him and there goes mills haha, hilarious!

Vilma, Morgan, Fujita, Rivers = new dome patrol

Curtis Lofton, Vilma, Fujita, and Morgan would be one of the best in the league.

"If the Saints had an offense they'd have won 2 or 3 Super Bowls in the 80's." :banghead:

The Ravens had a more inept offense than New Orleans did and they won a Superbowl. I think the blame lays mostly on Carl's Smith's playcalling and Jim Mora's inability to replace him. Hebert, Dalton Hilliard, Ironhead, Eric Martin, Floyd Turner...to me those guys are as good or better than anything the Ravens had on the field when they won it all.

The Ravens offense didn't give the other teams points in the playoffs. Plus the 2000 Ravens defense was better than the Dome Patrol and the 2000 Ravens got points and great field position from Special Teams.

Bobby Hebert seemed to crack in the playoffs but I still have to blame Carl Smith. Because with his playcalling the offense became very predictable and that weakness was exposed in the playoffs.

Regarding comparisons to the Ravens, the Saints had a better kicker :)

I just wish that the Committee wouold recognize Mills and put him in to the Hall of Fame!

Man, give me a break. Carl Smith was bad but let's be real. Dalton and Eric Martin would not even be able to play in this league right now even in their prime and I doubt Ironhead would either. Floyd Turner might have been fast enough to play today. Eric Martin is the slowest NFL WR I have ever seen. Hebert was good enough to win and the OLine was very underrated but they had no one at the skilled positions. The one great season that Dalton had was because of a fantastic OLine and a defense that didn't allow other teams to score.
The Dome Patrol executed at a high level despite garbage secondary and an offense that could not score. Had we had just one pro bowl WR the Saints would have won a Super Bowl. Had Jim Finks not made Hebert holdout we would have won a Super Bowl and we would not have made a garbage trade for Steve Walsh.
