After watching Dustin Kellers Highlights, I'd say this guy would be a steal if still available in the second round.

SI.com - NFL Draft 2008

For real, this dude looks amazing.

The trouble with highlight films is that they only show the good, not the times when the guy drops the ball, misses his block, or spends half a game texting his girlfriend because the play is on the other side of the field.

Golden rule of drafting: Watch the lowlight film - you'll probably learn more

????

I couldnt disagree more.

Outside of obvious character concerns, the film tells it all.

Every great player has highlights, thats what they are supposed to do.

I couldn't disagree even more. You can easily make a highlight reel of JD from last year. That surely doesn't tell the whole story and would be a blatant deception in production.

I didn't know much about Kellers until I was watching the combine on the NFL network. They said that he had all the same measurables as Vernon Davis. The difference was that Vernon made a name for himself at the combine, whereas Dustin has actually been performing at a very high level on the field for his entire college career. I'd love to have him on our team. I think the difference though is that he will not really be good at run blocking, or nearly as good as Shockey. Therefore Shockey would help two aspects of our game, whereas Kellers may (not proven in the NFL yet) help one.

That being said, if the trade is straight up our second for Shockey, I'd rather do that. If it involves Harper or anything, I'd rather take Kellers in the second. And if we can use our second to move up to take Dorsey or Ellis, I'd rather use the second for that than get either TE.

what they dont show you on that highlight reel, is that Keller cant block worth a damn, and Shockey is one of if not the best blocking tight ends in the game.

The Saints entire draft strategy involves talking the Giants into swapping first round picks in order to acquire Shockey. NY will not accept a second rounder...

Shockey is not worth trading down from the #10 pick to #31 in my books.

I don't want to give up a defensive player. I don't want to give up a possible defensive starter with our 2rd round pick and we might not even have a 2nd rounder next year, so please stop with this Shockey talk. We already traded for one stud from New York and it was on the correct side of the ball.

Brees has no problem finding targets, so big deal we don't have a Gates or Shockey. We should try to steal a TE in the 3rd or beyond.

Even Mort on ESPN said this was a one time conversation.

If Mort said that, it means the deal is already done. He's the most clueless 'insider' I've ever seen.

his blocking is whats gonna make him slip...Kris Wilson (now with the Eagles) was the same type player.....Keller might be better off in a Mike Martz ran offense....

If we made a highlight reel of Devery Henderson, he would look like Jerry Rice, but we all know the truth to his role.. Sir-Drop-A-Lot.. LOL
