I have watched Reggie all year. It's not that he isn't a capable and potentially great back. He simply doesn't know how to run in the NFL. He keeps cutting everything outside for some reason. He needs his RB coach to team him 2 things: Patience, and cut back lanes. He misses so many open lanes in the middle. He is killing our running game.

YES HE IS, I dont understand why he is loaded with talent..... but cannot figure out how to run in the NFl.. Im not a pro, but what am I missing....

He has games where he runs through the open hole and tries his best to run north/south, but there have been too many times where he tries that college east/west stuff and it doesn't work. Not only does east/west work in college, but Bush made a career out of it and he is still thinking with that kind of instict. Granted, our OL hasn't created many gaping holes to run through, but sometimes you have to create your own holes. Maroney seems to be already running north/south, so why hasn't Bush learned that yet?

I'm still patient enough to let him learn it. There are times when you see him learn a lesson and make the necessary adjustments which shows much promise. I know he needs to stop dancing in the backfield and just get er done already.

Coach should take his carries away for a couple weeks and i think he'll get it. It seems like we are still trying to get him like 25 touches and he is only producing as a receiver

Agreed. He should use his speed and head north-south. This stopping and juking and coming to a stop so the defenders converge is not the way to go. Speedy up the middle.

Another thing, why are we using him so much on running plays when we have Duece who stands on the sideline more than he's in the huddle? Sure, the overall game plan is producing wins, but I don't think we can live with that theory for much longer as everyone is keying on Bush so much that it is virtually impossible for him to do much at all even with a gaping hole to run through.

It's not like Deuce set the world on fire the last two games running the ball either. You can teach Bush, but teach the O Line how to run block better as well. This is a team game, right????

I'm still a Bush backer too I truly believe he will get it eventually. When I see him run and he starts going sideways I can't help but yell "JUST FOLLOW YOUR FULLBACK!" it dose seem like nobody's telling him to just get his three or four yards then try to do your magic.

Duece's carries has to be limited. Think where we would be with no Duece at all.

Did you watch the games or just read the paper? Deuce didn't play 2 weeks ago because of injury and stood on the sideline most of yesterday.

Coach has been pressing too much for Bush. Its time to reward Deuce for being a very good and proven NFL RB and give him the rock. Let Reggie see the game from the sideline a little bit. Give him steady film study on Tiki Barber to see how a 6' 200 lb. running back gets it done in the NFL. Bush will come back hungry and refreshed. He is that kind of competitor. Besides, if Payton doesn't take the kid gloves off soon, even Reggie's teammates will start to resent him soon.

I realize that its probably not going to happen, but its time to bring in Marshall Faulk to coach Bush and teach him to run in the NFL. Teach him how and when to be patient for your blocks to develop and how and when to hit a hole hard and fast. Faulk isn't doing anything right now and is from the area. He has stated many times that he loves Bush and what the Saints are doing. He is a Saints fan too. It makes sense, doesn't it?

Deuce is not being utilized. All great backs need 20 to 25 touches in a game to get their yards. They start slow - 2 to 3 yards a carry - then increase that in each quarter. Payton doesn't untilize Deuce in that way, and his yardage is suffering. Deuce is only getting 10 to 15 touches a game and that won't work.

that would be great. Get on it

if we want to win in the big time we have to have a running game and right now ...we really don't

I hate to say it David, but you may have stumbled onto the so called problem with RB--he needs more carries on a full time basis. We may be trying to keep tweo people happy and hurting both.

As of right now Reggie would best in the passing and punt return game and not so much as a runner. I think in time he will become a good runner but at this point he's best in other areas.
