Here are a few quick observations that I feel may have been overlooked (they may not have been as I haven't had a chance to read through all of the threads)...

(1) Devery Henderson. What a catch. I know it was a great throw by Brees, but the coverage was tight. The catch took amazing concentration, and it was a big-time play at a moment where the Saints had a chance to put the game away. Granted, he dropped a slant pass, but I'll take that everyday for plays like he made yesterday and the big play in the Detroit game. The guy is priceless.

(2) Our cornerbacks. How many times last year did we hear the names of Jason David being called. Or Fred Thomas (2006)? Our CB's have been quietly doing their job. I know we're only through 2 games, but not hearing their names being called is a really good thing. Kudos to Porter and Greer.

(3) Stinchcomb. I wasn't too big on this guy, but through the years, he has been consistent. He's been on the field and has done a nice job in pass protection.

(4) David Thomas. So far, while he hasn't been as explosive as Billy Miller, he has made the catches, and some big ones at that. Nice pickup.

(5) Jermon Bushrod did a great job against Trent Cole. The Saints did chip Cole with Heath Evans or a TE on about 20% of the plays but Bushrod still did a good job against a GREAT DE.

(6) Look for the Saints to try to sign another ILB in the off season. In game 1 against the Lions, Gregg Williams ran a good bit of 3-4 defense with Fujita and Shanle as the OLB's and Vilma and Mitchell as the ILB's. After re-watching the game today, there was no sign of Mitchell. Williams must not have liked what he saw in game film from week 1. I say this because against the Eagles, he still ran 3-4 defense at times but he used McCray and Fujita as the OLB's and Vilma and Shanle as the ILB's

(7) Payton called one of the best games I've ever seen on offense against a pretty good defense. Let's hope he can stay in that groove all season long.

(9) Morstead's punts are another weapon in the Saints arsenal. The guy has good hang time (why we traded up to get him) and surprisingly good distance.

(10)Darren Sharper's leadership and nose for the football has added a swagger to the defense.

8) reggie bush picking up the blitz

excellent observation...for this he does not get enough credit, particularly as he is often the only thing between brees pumping his fist & smiling and brees laying on his back & not smiling

~adding to 9) Morstead's kickoffs (save the one out of bounds) have been predominantly touchbacks or around the 1 or 2 yard line!

Plus he has a 50.4 punting average 6th in the league!!!!

That trade up seems more than worth it at the moment!

I remember that 4th and 2 in the first half and my brother was screaming to go for it. I said no way! We have a great punter and a solid defense that would be crazy! I think Payton called a better game because he had a better team to work with.

12) Scott Shanle maybe not overlooked but has been the best OLB we have and making some good plays, two INTs in two games and a number of open field tackles that could have been big plays had he not been there and flying from sideline to sideline. Maybe not a probowler but has been nothing but solid IMO.

13) Malcolm Jenkins impact on ST
