Keep Meachem? He showed up out of condition and sat out the first year with injuries and can't read the playbook and his second year he dropped as many balls as he caught, which weren't many...
Trade Henderson - if anyone wants him. He drops half the balls thrown to him, he doesn't go across the middle and in three years what has he done? And he wants a four year contract? Is he crazy?...
Bushrod will never be a starter in this league. He got lucky against Mario Williams but opposing DE's like Trent Cole will eat his lunch...
Thomas Morstead, a 5th round pick? When we desperately need another LB and DT!
Mike Bell?He fumbles and isn't a 20-25 carry/game back.
We wasted a second and a fifth round pick for a trouble-maker from New York, who's proven to be a cancer in the locker room. Trade him or swallow our losses. We're o.k. with Billy Miller.
Why didn't we draft Chris Wells when we had the chance? Malcolm Jenkins may be a sure tackler, but he's too slow to keep up with tall, fast WRs.
Carl Nicks? Another trouble-maker who has a character issue.
Jon Stinchcomb? For two seasons now, he's been injured. We just can't afford an RT who isn't healthy enough to play part-time, let alone throughout the season.
Wasn't Darren Sharper's INT production down to 1 last year and that , plus his age, 33, a reason not to sign him? Don't we have enough of a problem at safety?
Let's face it. Loomis and Payton just can't draft and target really good players, the way that Dallas and Detroit and Oakland and Carolina have done!

Good post. I guess we've all been down on certain players at one time or another, only to see them turn around and start producing.

How is it that 4 out of 5 people found the thread helpful, yet the thread has a 1 star rating?

LOL. Inconsistent but ok. I like what he's saying. I guess sometimes it is just better to let the guys in charge of making the decisions...make the decisions.

Fans are sometimes too emotional to see what's best. That's ok. At least we are passionate about our team.

Half the fans were on the opposite end of all those arguments.. I don't really see the point.
Are you trying to say ALL fans think exactly the same way on every subject? I dunno.. just asking.

Saints fans don't make player decisions because they aren't employed by the New Orleans Saints to do so.

No kidding. I never said there weren't some fans who wanted to give some of these players some slack and wait, just that the majority wanted them gone. Fast. Fans are sometimes right, like with Jason David and Sullivan and Bullocks.
And fans have every right to feel frustrated. I just think it's healthy to be patient and let time do its work.
On the other hand, I remember that Mike Ditka(when he coached here) admitted he didn't understand free agency and said"There isn't anyone out there better than our guys" - then we went 3-13...

I forgot to add that sometimes the fans split 50-50, like with Shanle who just did his job quietly and efficiently. Until this year, when he suddenly made the question"Why didn't we grab Derrick Brooks or Mike Lewis(?)" moot.

I figure draft picks will be mostly busts or development projects. Meachem never bothered me. Honestly, I was never worried about any of these guys. I figure the coaches know what they're doing :) but that just goes with not knowing enough about football. I don't know enough to make my own judgments. I have no choice but to trust the coaches.

That actually sounds more like ESPN than it does the fans but I see your point.

Most fans on here like Meachem and believe in him,
think Bushrod is doing a good job filling in for some big shoes could be a full time LT,
liked the punter pick in the 5th round (if a 5th round DT is actually starting over Ellis or Clancy then we either hit the mother load or we got problems),
like Shockey (the media is the only one really latching onto the trouble maker issue),
didn't want Wells and would have preferred Malclom Jenkins/trade down and get Sean Smith,
think Carl Nicks was a steal that late in the draft,
Stinch isn't spectacular but he's reliable and consistent,
loved the Sharper signing and though his INT production was down because he was at the wrong position.

You'd be surprised by how many people actually have a pretty good understanding of this team and just want their voices to be heard on ways to improve it. Are they always right, no, but no one is. You can only analyze individual match ups so many times in one week. Is it too early for those 2010 mock draft threads, yes, but it also gives you an idea on which college players to keep an eye on.

i still wish we would have re-signed jason david for a much lower figure. sorry but i never gave up on the guy, he handled adversity with class and was forced to "lift the other leg" when he went from zone to man schemes.

i love the op's rant though

:plus-un2:

I was one of the ones to say trade Henderson. I still think he would be good trade bait if needed but I'm ok with keeping him as well. He has shown a lot of improvement.

I also had a problem with moving up and taking a punter. So far so good but I say we give this one a season before we declare it a brilliant move.

I recall a lot of people having issues with signing an injured quarterback from the Chargers that no one else wanted too...
