I ate Crow a week ago for bashing Shanle and Harper, I think that people need to do the same this week. We may not win that game if it were not for Smith and Grant yesterday, they played great. All you Smith and Grant bashers its time to eat crow..........

IT was good to see them perform like they are supposed to. If they can keep that fire it will make for a great season and a serious run at the SB.

No crow here, when they start doing it on a consistent basis then I'll be happy to. Their performance yesterday only shows to me how they have not been playing to their potential.

Smith, Grant, Ellis, AND My man most hated by the Zebras, Hargrove, all played a great game.

Anyone see that sack by Ellis while he was double teamed? That was baby Sappish for sure.

Seems like they answered Gregg's challenge yesterday. Hopefully they can keep the momentum from this game and carry it over this week against a rookie quarterback.

No crow eating at all. Grant finally had a good game. It's been about a year since that happened. His problem has always been consistency. Let's see him put up several good games in a row. Everyone knows Smith was injured all last season. I expected him to play better this season. They're going to need to bring their A game next week and the week after that.

Crow and Cheese I'm eating it all with a smile. I'm not sure what happened yesterday in devensive schemes(see avatar title) but Ellis, Grant and Smith played very well.

It's a shame that grown men have to be motivated like little kids. They should be playing all out on every play of every game, not just when they get chewed out.

Clearly, you need to find two players per week to bash on defense, since they seem to step it up when you do that.

This is your role with the team. Do not shirk on your duties.

They got called out by Payton & it had an effect on them. I think they will be stepping up their play each week from now on, the Saints players know they are for real & the D is coming together & getting better each week, that will cause Smith & Grant & all the other D linemen to feed off the energy, it will continue to build.

I'm more of the opinion now that Smith and Grant were asked to play specific roles in the first two games. This game, it seemed as if GW's play calling got a lot more creative and aggressive, because we needed the defense to step it up with the slow offensive showing in the first 3Q.

Nice to be able to rely on your defense when the offense just isn't getting the job done - allowing them to regroup.

drew brees had a bad game. does that suddenly make him a bad quarterback? no. grant and smith had a great game. does that suddenly mean they are earning their paychecks? no, but it was a great start. if they can play like that week in and week out we will have a top five defense.
