We all know that numerous injuries played a big part in our inability to play consistent offense and defense last year. This year, we've been blessed (Yes, I say, "blessed") to be relatively healthy so far.

How awesome has it been so far to be able to just "plug and chug" when we HAVE had some injuries? Bushrod goes in for Jammal Brown and plays well until he goes down. In comes Zach Strief, and he plays well.

Likewise w/ the running game: PT is hurt before the season starts, and Mike "Hell's" Bell goes off in the first two games - 45 carries, 234 yds (5.2 ypc), 1 TD. Bell goes down in week 2 setting up PT to make his comeback in week 3. Before the game starts, though, PT is sick and is unable to start. Just go to your stocked stable of workhorses and plug in Lynell Hamilton - 5 carries, 24 yds (4.8 ypc), 1 TD. HALLELUJAH!! PT is recovered for the second half of the Bills game and goes off for 126 yds on 14 carries (9 YPC!) and 2 TDs. I've said it from day one. All Pierre Thomas does is score touchdowns! BTW, Reggie also ran the ball pretty well against the Bills, too.

It has been a LONG TIME since the Saints have had this much firepower running the ball. In fact, the last time we were this stocked was when we had Ricky Williams, and we had just drafted Deuce.

We are breathing rare air, Ladies and Gentlemen. Let Drew continue w/ the aerial fireworks, but let's not forget that we have the ability to completely dominate an opponent's defense w/ the run game!

Left Tackle was a gaping sore for us against the Bills and, in my opinion, played a big part in the day Brees ended up with.

I obviously am not as analytical of a Saints fan as I should be... You're right; we're in trouble!

Yes the Saints do have some depth at running back. Bell went down and Pierre stepped up. But let's not forget that Pierre was going to be the starter before he got injured. But having quality depth at RB is welcome change from '07 - '08.

Spam is right though. Bushrod struggled with Schobel until he got injured and Streif didn't fare much better. Both guys are good with big, powerful bullrushers but struggle with small, quick speed rushers. Of course the trade off for the Defense is those small, quick speed rushers were getting blown off the LOS be Streif when he was run blocking.

I'm down with this Spam, I'm glad Drew didn't get killed out there.

Or against Detroit, or Philly. Some close calls, but he gets up.

Bushrod is well admired in the local media, but I'll be glad when Brown comes back.

Hopefully the week after the bye.

I suspect the Jets blitz rush will be a nightmare.

If the Jets blitz in the dome with no wind to adjust Brees' throws (pfft, as if his throws ever need adjusting) Brees will pick them apart. 150+ passer rating when blitzed
