So I was riding the back 40 yesterday, having a good time in the mud, when I came upon what looked like rocks strewn on the top of the hill. I thought it was pretty odd because the field I was in doesn't have much rocks. Mostly just topsoil over red clay. When I got out of the Rhino and looked closer I saw that the rocks were mostly shells. Just like the ones that I have seen at numerous beaches around the world. The only ones that were completely intact were small, all of the larger ones were broken.
I looked around some more and noticed a large rock peeking out from a washed out area. It was pretty soft as I used a smaller rock to break pieces off. Both rocks splintered sort of like flint, but they are the rong color to be flint.
Anybody know anything about this sort of stuff?

My guess would be an old creek bed, or bayou. The rock was likely sedimentary, and the shells could be from shellfish that inhabited the creek.

That or aliens. Or maybe Bigfoot(s). Or would that be Bigfeet? :hihi:

It is the devil tricking you by placing seashells inland so you may believe that once well over 6000 years ago there was a seabed of some sort there, when in fact we all know the earth of only 6000 yeard old

/duh!

Any chance this could be an old road bed, where the shells were hauled there?

I for one welcome our Bigfoot shell caring overlords.

No. The road that I live on is called "Old Stagecoach Road". This road is only paved halfway and follows the exact rought it followed when it was first built back in the 1800s. It's not too far from Hwy 11 but using shells for road construction is uncommon here.

Aliens is probably it. Maybe fell out of those DC-9s the Thetans flew?
:hihi:

Wait, IIRC The Six Million Dollar Man taught us that Bigfoot was a robot built by aliens, so Aliens must be the right answer. Yes, it was definitely aliens who left the shells.

They could be fossil shells...maybe. That area north of Hattisburg has marine fossils, however I think its mainly ichtysaurs era and I am not sure if clams/mussels were around then. My other guess is they were piled there by a former owner maybe in a sand fill or something.

Are they dark/black if so they are most likely fossilized. Also they could be an old freshwater shell deposit. Post a picture and someone( maybe me) could help in identification although shells aren't my area of expertise.
