I can’t help but think you were ahead of your time. You’d be a great fit on the 2009 Saints.
It would be exciting to play with that team right now — as good as they are. Sean Payton was the quarterbacks coach at San Diego State when I was going there. We’ve always said hi to each other over the years. Watching the Saints this year reminds me of back when we were winning and those plane rides home — back to New Orleans — where all the cheering fans would meet us at the gate. That city supported its team more than any other I’ve ever seen.

I didn’t know about that Sean Payton connection.
I’ve got a crazy Reggie Bush connection, too. He grew up across the street from me when I was in college.

Quit being such a wuss. You’re Kyle Friggin‘ Turley, man!
Hey, it would be great to play for the Saints again. My one regret in football career was leaving that city. But if I hadn’t left, I wouldn’t know how much it actually meant to me the way I do now.

I'm glad to see Kyle still thinks fondly of us. I always loved that nasty attitude of his when he played here.

And I still think he got the rawest of raw deals in that Jets game in 2001. My blood still boils on that one. Some of the worst officiating I've ever seen.

He wasn't nearly as complimentary while he was here

Is "here" in California or in N.O.? Kyle loved N.O. then and now, and was complimentary while he was here. The media then loved to put a twist on it...kind of like Shockey in NY.

As it's true for most NFL players, they put their heart and soul into their job, and leave their emotions on the field. Totally different people off the field. Such as Turley.

Very similar to musicians.

I found this thread to be as irrelovent as.....well insert any blank you;d like[/QUOTE\
One or two things, either your a new Saints fan? Or, you have no love for former players who gave their bodies for our team? Either way, yeah it's relovent!!!

When he was here, he loved this town. Any show that was playing at the Wolf, HOB or really anywhere that fit his tastes in music, he was there having fun. I had similar tastes in music as he did back in those days and I did run into him quite a few times. He was, and I imagine still is, a good guy.

Now, when he left he took some shots at the organization. The Saints fan in me didn't particularly like that but I could see the man's grievance with the organization. There was, though never any doubt in my mind he loved the city and the fans. I even remember the quotes he said when he left. Turley specifically stated that he loved and was gonna miss New Orleans and the fans.

/this makes me miss listening to Rod Ryan in the morning. Especially when Turley called in.

Anyone know the last time KT was playing football?
If his rookie year was 1998, he would only be an 11 year veteran right now.
Time/injuries have probably caught up with him, but he is 100% more my style RT than Jon Stinchcomb.
Miss the tatted up, guitar playing nasty boy......imagine the skin ink if Shockey lined up next to him......

Fun Factoid: Depending on atmospheric conditions, WWL870 can be heard clear as a bell during the nighttime here in lovely Charlottesville Virginia which is a full thousand miles away.

OOPS!! :covri: I'm sorry! I didn't notice where you live! Do they stream the show online?

Unless they changed something, yeah.

/but that factoid was truth though. Last year the wife and I were driving to New Orleans from here on the same day as the Lions/Saints game. We caught the signal right around Bristol VA/TN and it wasn't too weak. I love freaking out friends in the car who joke that I'm a New Orleanian with a long commute by turning WWL on and just waiting for the traffic report to come up. I had one guy convinced that it was a special radio that all New Orleanians get and can pick up WWL from anywhere on Earth. :hihi:
