Like the Pats last year in the AFC,with so many bad teams in the NFC, this will be the year that an NFC team will go 11-5 and miss the playoffs.

So the logic is, with so many bad NFC teams, an 11-5 NFC team won't make the playoffs? The Pats missed last year with 11-5 because the AFC had beastly records.

The way it looks right now

Saints/Falcons win the South
Vikings most likely win the North but Bears and Packers ending with nice records
Giants/Eagles win the East
Cards/49ers win the West

You could be right sir. This will hopefully be touched on by Coach Payton and the emphasis on winning the division should be hammered into their heads.

Are you being deliberately facetious Craw of is this just a clever but intentional reverse psychology faux-pas made to give us some encouragement right now?

Do you really mean this or are you putting on? Sometimes a book can't be judged by it's cover, otherwise half the people who wanted Abbie Hoffman's Steal this Book would be thrown in jail for shoplifting, armed robbery, and theft.

System of a Down, that means you too.

Going 11-5 and not making the playoffs while watching an 8-8 Chargers team host a playoff was a tough pill to swallow for Pats fans. I believe playoff teams should be slotted based on record no matter what division they belong to. It would make the playoffs more competitive.

I'm just saying......

East:Eagles Giants
South: Saints Falclowns
North: Vikings, Bears & Pack
West: 49ers Cards Hawks

That's 10

Take YOUR bottom 3 out and do you not see all teams 11-5 or better?

This is because of: Rams, Lions, Bucs, AFC West, Skins, etc

I'm just saying... take care of ours!

Craw, I think this team is easily capable of going 12-4 or 13-3. Now, where we have to be very mindful is in the playoffs, as in the Divisional and Conference Championship games.

Marty Schottenhiemer had so many great teams when he was in Kansas City, but his team always either lost close games or blew close leads that wasted away all of the great things his teams had done year after year, even in Cleveland and when he was in San Diego. Drew Brees had one hell of a game vs New York, had led them a 12-4 record, but Marty Ball ruined all of it by playing to not lose in OT, which in turn prevented them from winning anything.

The best thing Drew Brees ever did was leaving that circus he was put in for 5 seasons and coming to a team whoe HC who played aggressively, brought out all what he was forbidden to do as Chargers QB, and guess what? He's become a far better QB and potent weapon then he ever could have been in San Diego. He had run his course with AJ Smith, Dean Spanos, and Marty Ball. He's done much more as our QB then he ever did in San Diego. A totally different QB with a far more radical approach to winning and scoring points.

I think you should seriously reconsider the 49ers for anything after the beating they just took. Also, Seattle just found out that they can actually win games.

didn't nate kaeding blow a last second field goal that game?

You have to believe that they will be better when Gore comes back and Singletary rips them for a whole 2 weeks. There were some kinda flukey plays in that game against the Falcons. Deion said that perhaps they were looking forward to the BYE. Arizona got blown out late in the season last year and they ended up in the Super Bowl. It's just one game.

Crawdaddys, I don't think so.

I just posted on another thread about how I am learning that there is a genuine lack of parity in the NFL this year and I just do not think there are enough teams who are good enough to make 11 - 5 in the NFC this year.

It's pretty clear the Cardinals are going to win a very weak NFC West, regardless of what their record is at the end.

But three divisional winners and three wild card teams will come from the following list of six teams (in alphabetical order):

Atlanta, Chicago, Minnesota, New Orleans, New York Giants, Philadelphia

And the only other outside possibilities are the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, neither of whom has a prayer of making 11 - 5.

I just don't think so.
