Ok, maybe apologists isn't the right word, but still.... For the last week I've heard and read all about how Brady's back, the rust is gone, he's back to being the number 1 quarterback in the world, ever, etc etc etc.

Fast forward to Sunday evening where the Pats lose to an up and coming Broncos team. Then FF to Monday morning, and suddenly Brady is back to being rusty and not his old self.

I don't know these 2 guys in this video, but I imagine they're indicative of all the rest of them out there.

Two things

1) New England just isn't as good as "New England" anymore, something that was predicted by a small few before the season

2) Denver's defense is for real, and while Orton is still the Kyle Orton we all thought he was, he's surrounded by just a ton of offensive talent.

So, the rumor mill is most likely true that the Pat's "perennial run" is pretty much done. Can't complain about that. I have gotten too sick of hearing "patriots patriots patriots" every blasted year.
And Orton is not "all that bad" if he's surrounded by reasonable talent? Interesting that..

I really believe Denver will collapse at some point, they just don't feel like a team that's ready to make a big run into the playoffs.
I'm glad for their success so far (but horrified at those jerseys they wore.. *shudder*) but I just can't see them as 'real contenders'.

I think I heard he's now 18-2 as a starter at home, not bad at all.

Sure looked good yesterday. Count out 5-0 at your peril. "You are what your record says you are."

the steelers last year had the #22 offense and #1 defense overall.

the broncos are #6 offense and #2 in defense right now.

orton may not be able to push the ball down the field with his arm as well as rothlesburger but he is in a more talented offense than pittsburg had last year with clady, royal, sheffler, marshall, moreno and hillis.

i dont make it a habit of betting against teams with outstanding Qb efficiency and great defenses to not make deep runs.

Who was surprised when Brady got sacked and the ball came out that there wasn't penalty flags flying and review and overturn? I was expecting Goodell, himself to come out on the field and throw a flag and then go under the review booth just to protect his beloved Brady and NE Patriots.

I honestly didn't see the game, but I am a bit surprised that the field wouldn't have been covered in yellow in that instance.

I really expected them to say his arm was coming forward, and therefore, an incomplete pass.
