Found this little snippet by Drew on CBS Sports. He must have said this when he was being interviewed by the NY media today.

The Saints haven't been an offensive juggernaut in their past two games. QB Drew Brees said it was by design. He said the team didn't want to be conservative, but it was more important to manage the game. Brees would not tip his hand about the approach this week against the Giants.

Translation: We knew we could beat the Bills and Jets by running the ball and playing good defense, so we didn't want to show too much to the Giants. :D

OK, he didn't really mean that. I believe that the design was to take fewer chances with the ball against two pretty good defenses, especially in windy conditions in Buffalo.

Somehow it reminds me of Urban Meyer and the flu. Just keep winning and I don't care if it's all on blocked punts and faked field goals.

I figured as much. I never agreed that the Bills and Jets shut down our passing attack. I think it was a couple things at play:

  • I feel like the team wanted, and still wants to build an aggressive rushing attack, and use it to not only run out the clock in the 4th, but dictate the game through all 4 quarters.
  • See what they really have in the backfield, so when those tough, close games come, those 3&1's, 4th and inches, and defensive battles - are we going to be able to hang. The answer is yes.
  • Establish toughness on the offensive side of the ball, which we've admittedly lacked the past couple years.
  • They lost Drew's oil can for his throwing arm. :hihi:
JMHO - I'm wrong pretty often though, so take what you will from it.

I think that's the most logical explanation.

Just gives the Giants coaches and players something else to think about: "Which Saints offense will we see Sunday?"

I have a feeling Drew's going to come out bombing in the dome this weekend. Hopefully this will be one of the games I think back on when Drew is going into the hall of fame.

Think about it, we started off with leads in both games. In the Jet game, the Jets were driving when Sharper had his pic 6. After that, was there a need for Brees to air it out?

In Buffalo, the weather was an issue and also they had the running game going great after the half.

Can someone forward this to Kenny Wilkerson?

I doubt Kenny would have time to read it......he's too busy working on his new website, seanpaytonsucks.com.

If we win big this weekend, I can't wait to see how Kenny tries to spin it and find negatives.

the lost by 10... not 7... wouldnt have changed the outcome IMO...

lsu just sucked in that game.

this I know. It was more of a sarcastic post. Hence the question mark. I would have put the little smiley with his arms up, but I don't know the code for it. Sorry if I threw you off.
