Reggie's Touches Per Game (Keep in mind, we were -1 RB for most of the games):

12 vs. Kittens
13 vs. Birds
16 vs. Bills
9 vs. Jets
7 vs. Gints

With PT and MB in the rotation, Reggie's role has diminished substantially, and apparently his role/necessity in the playbook. I dunno, the guy has a couple nice seasons and deserves more support from the coaching staff to develop. We need to get our money's worth out of this guy.

FLAMERS: I'm not talking about the RB position, but short passes, the guy is phenomenal, and had an enormous amount of receptions his 1st three seasons. Not too many RBs in the league catch in the flat and puts up extra yardage like this guy. I almost want to blame Payton (or Brees) for not keeping him a visible treat in this area. We have for the last 3-4 seasons. It'll only make us better. Why stop a good thing?

PS
If the coaching staff wants to give up on him on the run, no biggie, thats substantiated. But this guy was one of the best in the league off the short dump passes, catches in the flats, screens, etc...

Hes not going no where..Sean use him how he want depending who we play. . what will u say if he got 15 touches against Miami?

I did think it was kind of weird his lack of touches in the giants game, but we won by a lot, so I'm not mad. On that note, no screens against the Gmen? Always considered us one of the better screen teams out there.

And it's also a sign that we're up big, why risk injury to one of the biggest playmakers....

He still gets plenty of snaps. He is a very important player in what we do

Exactly, he was open three or four times I noticed in the Giants game but the downfield receivers were so wide open Drew didn't need to check down.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find these "Reggie is through" threads depressing in the middle of a magic season? I'm not saying the point of view is or isn't correct, it's just depressing to bring up when there is so much positive to talk about.

He might be giving up on him at the RB spot, but we all know Reggie is being utilized in the passing game more than PT or Bell. If you want to look at whether a player is being dumped, you have to take into account his total number of touches, number of plays he's in on. Remember, Reggie is one of those players that other teams have to account for each and every play.

I don't think Payton is giving up on him. I think he is using the best tools he has for the needs of the game. Would you say Payton is giving up on Meachem or Henderson because their number of touches per game are less than Reggie's?

I see where you are going with the post, but I think in the case of Reggie, you need to take everything into account before making a statement like that. :mwink:

Oh jesus christ.

The Saints are 5-0. #1 in Points per game. #1 in Total offense. What's there to complain about?

Reggie is part of that and I think he's being used just fine. Glorified role player.. sounds fine to me.

i thought for sure he was going get fed the ball against the giants linebackers and safties last week...

the interesting thing to me is that the offense now seems to run just as effectively, if not moreso, without him getting the ball. on several plays he was used on a fake and/or as a decoy, and it opened up the field elsewhere (see the colston td catch as an example)

it is frustrating as a fan to not have him breaking off exciting plays in the passing game. i for one miss it

The problem, if you can call it that, is that this team has far too many offensive weapons. Therefore the ball distribution is going to be a lot less for EVERYONE because EVERYONE will get a taste of success.

I mean, MY GOODNESS!!! 7 different players scored TDs Sunday. SEVEN!!!!!! So by your argument, Colston, Moore, Henderson, Meachem, Shockey, Thomas and Bell should all be upset because they didn't get a gang of touches.

I don't think he has "given up" on RB. I do imagine he is extremely pleased that he has PT and Bell to help shoulder the burden and take the heavier punishment.

I also think he is pleased that he can approach different games in different ways. The Jets game and the Bills game were not indications that he had given up on Brees.

I agree 99%, I have no problem with the role he's playing. The only problem I have is that he's going to be one of the highest payed players on the roster soon.
