DAVIE - Facing the New Orleans Saints and the NFL's leading offense doesn't faze Joey Porter.

If anything it motivates the Miami Dolphins linebacker even more to end a personal sack drought that stretches back to the second quarter of Week 3 at San Diego.

"Our goal is to knock them off the high horse and try to bring them down," Porter said Wednesday. "They've been out in front of every game. They've scored a touchdown on every opening drive they've had.

"Our goal is not to let them start fast by any means. We've got to slow them down to make them work for everything they get out there. Hopefully that's not much. We can't let them get in that comfort zone to where their offense is wide open. We've got to try to put them in a situation to where they're not out in front and able to do everything they like to do."

I think we will win this game but they play VERY hard so we aqre gunna have to step it up!!!

Mike Tyson said it best "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face."

Porter's basically Bart Scott part II. They both run their mouths. I think i heard Scott's name once when we played the Jets

Thanks for linking that article kfran, but, eh, I didn't think his comments were that bad.

They'll definantly be highly motivated that first drive. They seem to be making that a focal point (as they justifiably should).

That said, as I think it was Brees who pointed out, first drive is scripted so it's usually about game-planning.

I'd put my money on the combination Brees/Payton gameplan any day.

From the comments:

<hr> Porter, please back up your comments. You been slacking this year. Step up to the plate we need you like you played last year. Make up for our weakness up the middle. Channing Sucks and so does Akin.

That's what EVERYBODY wants to do but no one can. This offense is like Michael Jordan, you can't stop 'em, you can only hope to contain 'em.

The problem with them trying to knock the team off there high horse is, they are not on one. Us as the fans are on that horse but, this team is proud to ride that donkey on a slow path to greatness

So says the guy with six tackles this season. :covri: I had Porter on one of my fantasy teams, but finally decided he wasn't going to play football this year. So I dumped his no-point-getting-butt and picked up The Shanle to replace him on my roster. I feel cleansed.

Shanle will score some big points for you a few times this season I feel. He's a lot more athletic then I gave him credit for evidently, and is still thriving in Greg William's scheme.

Wouldn't be suprised to see more Sacks/Turnovers from him yet.
