Just wondering. I've been around here for quite a spell now and read and seen a lot of emotion both joy and pain to a degree where IMHO, perhaps we are ALL suffering from the same sickness?

For me it started in '67. That's a mighty long time to be addicted to anything without there being severe brain damage and a surely a point of no return. Yeah that old Black and Gold Magic has us all in a spin, that Old Black and Gold Magic that I've been so long in...........

To know stats and players and plays for years on end, so much emotional investment! This is feeling really great and the Big PayOff is so tantalizing and this is feeling like our best chance since The Dome Patrol and Bobby Hebert and the legends of that era. Men like "Ironhead" and Dalton, Eric Martin and Dombrowski. This could get huge so folks tighten up your safety belts and hang on! I've seen this ride before and it's an amazing feeling and adreneline rush. It makes every game seem so , so, significant! Every play holds so much potential for us it's ridiculous!

I'm hooked, in deep and loving every minute of it!

!!!!!!!!!!! GEAUX SAINTS GEAUX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually had a fever of 101 degrees this past Sunday night after the Miami game, so maybe you are onto something...

I've felt your pain and enjoyed the happy moments for 43 years, as well. :9:

...And no disrespect to the Saints greats you mentioned, but no Saints team even comes close to what we've seen in 09'.

Just giving Props out to former teams who were the first ones to ever get a winning season together, which, if you remember, was about as big a news story as all the Kennedy conspiracy theory going through New Orleans or Hurricane Besty at that time! Man, Bobby was on the Cover of SI ( kiss of death!) and it read: "SAINTS ALIVE" --- I've still got it! Just saying we are in a new type of euphoria which is giving us such a feeling that THIS TIME REALLY IS IT! This TEAM really IS our CHANCE FOR GREATNESS!

I'm just way stoked on this TEAM, our Coaches and I like our CHANCES!
One poster put it in their sig pic; "14-2 Conference win, SUPERBOWL WIN by 2 scores!!!!!!!!" Only, I just don't see the 2 losses!

I the words of Adam Schein, " AWWWWWWWWWW YES IT IS!" (inside joke for Sirius Radio listeners) Just ask Adam. He's got a full case of the "Saintitis!" Anytime he picked against his own New York Giants when we played, I have to say this guy calls a spade a spade. He said that while he does believe the Saints will go undefeated, he really don't see matchup that he doesn't like in favor of the Saints the rest of the way, including New England and Dallas.

My opinion is simple. Our best chance to be beaten by anyone just came and went. Think about this for a minute: The Saints played team in the Dolphins that just came off of a bye and at home. The Saints just beat a very good Giants team in the battle of the unbeatens (emotional high) and fully knowing that they have a big MNF game looming against the hated Falcons. That Miami game was a perfect trap game for the Saints and the perfect time for any team to catch an elite team looking ahead and believing they are superior.

What did our Saints do? They got off to a slow start. Looked very sluggish and fell behind by 21 points to a very well rested, prepared, and focus Dolphin team. The game had that gotcha feeling the whole first and most of the second qtr. Then something amazing happened, the Saints' defense got a turnover back, thus sparked a comeback!

In conclusion the answer to your question is a definitive yes. It is a real disease!

Yes, though it's usually seasonal, typically peaking in July before the Season, when one is delusional from football hunger, and ending around October, once football reality sets in.

This season however, it's rampant and probably won't subside until February.

I may call in sick to work due to Saints Fever on Monday. The only cure, more Mike Bell.

Guess what? I got Saints fever. And the only prescription is more... Mike Bell.

edit: dang I just saw galbreath already made the reference.
