Bush in the Backfield (1 Viewer)

Just wondering if anyone else noticed this. 100% of the time when Deuce is in the backfield he is lined up behind Karney. About 90% of the time when Bush is in the backfield the saints come out in Singleback formation. I would also like to see them come out in a Full house formation with Bush, Deuce, and Karney in the backfield. I would also like to see Reggie stretch the field and go deep, because no linebacker in the league can keep up with him.

We did show the Full House against the Bucs. And defensive coordinators aren't stupid enough to let Reggie run a streak with a linebacker. That happened only once this season and we made them pay.

I want to see the Saints make it to 7-2. I really don'y care how many touched Deuce or Reggie get. As long as we have more points than the other team at the end of the 4th quarter how can you find fault?

Peyton is using all his player in the best possible way. He's taking what opposing defenses are giving. Right now, opposing defenses are NOT giving Reggie running room, Fine Sunday we had TWO 100+ yard WR's and 3 TD between them. When opposing team start clamping down on Colston and the other WR's Deuce and Reggie will have running room.

It's simple really. I know we as Saints fans arent use to this, but this is how it works when your, NOT a one dimensional offense.

i watched the game again last night and all of reggies runs in slo-mo. we did run out of this formation. Most were bush's fault he had a couple carries that were not into an 8 man front and was stopped cold. Other runs were not his fault and no one could have ran for positive yardage

Good post Old Paint, I have to agree. Teams have been stacking 8 in the box and daring Drew Brees to beat them.(Which he is doing) As they try to take away the pass Deuce should have plenty of running room.

They've been doing it by changing their coverages presnap, too.
In Tampa's case they pulled their SS in going from cover two to cover three.
This presents a very valid threat of a zone blitz, which limits what your RBs get to do. If someone thinks Bush is going to hit that hole, they will bring it.
If he has the ball, it should be handled by who ever has contain on the play.
Usually this is the MLB, but it's generally whoever is not blocked or blitzing.
If he doesn't have the ball, he is not a very high reciever threat in the hole and cannot block the blitzer.
This limits both where the QB can throw and who he can throw it to.
The problems the Saints are facing are developed from the above, but there is some spying involved too (probably the same guy that has contain since he gets a view of the hole).
Teams are waiting to see which RB has the ball before they commit, which allows us to see some nice play action and blocking from the RB position.
That hole is overratted until you get the spy out of contain, and I wonder how many rushes use a RB to draw the spy. I haven't watched any replays, but I bet at least the Brees 7 yard rush up the middle came from this.

As long as we are winning lets keep it as it is. I like the way, from what I heard, I listen to the game on NFL Field Pass while in Africa, that Bush was running more straight ahead.
