Do you think that if Strief has to play a few more weeks and handles the next few teams DL like he handled Simeon Rice could the Saint's coaching staff make the switch? I think it would work out and could really bolster this OL for the Saint's next year.

Sorry this is just baffling to me.

Jamal Brown has played exceptional all season. Zach Strief is a prototypical RT (in size, talent) and a rookie who had a single "ok" game against an aging Simeon Rice (and the game wasn't even exceptional, Brees scrambled more then he had all season, and partially due to breakdowns on the left side).

So what prompted this?

NO, I can see Streif at RT and Brown at LT in the future, bubt not Vice Versa.

I could see possibly for next year with Strief at RT and Stinch at RG. Power blocking right side. Evans can switch to the left and be a pulling guard that this team sorely lacks.

Strief could become a future RT definitely I think that Stincomb's contract might be up after this year, but I am not sure

Stinch's contract is up, he should be resigned for depth, and put at guard if Strief can handle RT.

I like our options with the OL. I would also like another one in the draft for Depth.

if it ain't broke.....

Best post in this thread.....8 sacks in 8 games, lowest in the NFL. Brown is the team's LT, right now Stinchcomb's done a good job at RT protecting Brees. Yes, Streif did a very good job in relief of Brown and I know Payton/Marrone will put the best guys on the field next year. But the OL is set and playing well, why the #$% would you want to mess with it?

Yeah your right!!! Stinchomb is playing solid football right now.Why bench him??
Lets just be happy we have a solid back up, and let this O-Line gel even more, so we can get our run game going.

I think its is early to be saing he could take over at LT but I would not be surprised if he started pushing Stinch. Dont get me wrong Stinch is playing good but I always thought he could not be a great RT because he doesnot get great push vs the run. Streif just seems to be the type that could give us that push because he is huge. I think that this should be a good battle down the stretch and remember Stinch is a free agent after this season.

If you resign Stinchcombe, he will be making starter money. If he continues to produce, someone will sign him to a big deal. Strief is seemingly a solid option as a starter for next year. He gets some playing time this year to see what it's all about, and next year, he fights for a starting spot.

Now if you want to discuss whether a 99.9% (finger injury) Streif should start over a 89.9% (ankle) Jamaal Brown against the Steelers, that's different......
