Typically the games that really grab me are complete surprises, and its only after they're out that I discover them. But there is nothing on the horizon that looks good to me. I have high hopes for Starcraft and Diablo, but who knows how long those will be out, and if my computer will even run them.

I'm already quite disappointed with 2010.

Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2?

You really need to go bi-console. Once you do, you won't go back.

Yeah, I imagine I'd probably enjoy ME2, but as you pointed out, : ps3mad :

My plan is to play Planescape for a few weeks, take a couple months off, then buy Demon's Souls, take another couple months off, and then hope by that time that the surprise game has revealed itself. If not, it might be an Oblivion or Fallout replay for me.

Demon's Souls should keep you busy for a bit.

That's because your soul is a twisted amalgam of shallowness. You should spend some time in the East, with some Buddhists. When you come back, all games will interest you.

Or you could get a 360. Whichever.

Entertainment Weekly previewed the big games coming up the first half of the year, and they almost uniformly looked terrible.

i don't know what to tell you hatbrah...it seems that you are only interested in the RPG genre....try something new

or DIAF

your call

There doesn't seem to be a wide variety of game types. That's one thing about the industry that is frustrating. It costs so much money to develop titles these days that developers repeat formulas that have worked in the past.

That's why we see so many first person and third person shooters.

You seem to be an RPG man, which is unfortunate in this climate. It's not as unfortunate as being a RTS fan, but you still don't get many choices.

Some of the coolest games imo (and these are enough to get me from big title to big title) are the arcade games like Trials HD that don't cost a ton to develop. Developers can take chances with these games, and you see some interesting game types.

Unfortunately for you, RPGs don't really get made for cheap.

I'll probably pick up these games later in the year when they hit the bargin bin...

The Sabotour
Red Dead Redemption
Dante's Inferno

but other than that, Epic Micky is probably the only game i'll get new for the kids. I'm about half way thru Arkham Asylum right now and loving every minute of it.

I thought 2009 was pretty good. Uncharted was a lot of fun. Dragon Age was decent, if a little disappointing. Plus Batman, AC2 and Demon's Souls, which though I haven't played have been pretty uniformly lauded. In addition to that, there were a host of FPS I have been told are good.

I'm not seeing anything in 2010 to really compete with that lineup. The first 1/2 looks pretty weak, except for ME2 (which I can't play)

what about Heavy Rain??

looks like it will bring something completely new and different to the gaming world....

i can't wait to try it out

I don't know a whole lot about it, but it looks too cinema-driven, and less about any sort of gameply. Like a pick-a-path book or something.
