A lost to the Saints would release my demons. Not in my wildest dreams would I have thought that the SB champ Steelers would mirror our record of last year. I'm sure that if we the Saints beat the Steelers, a reality seed in the football world would have been planted. D-on can't say, "that's the Saints I remember." Pittsburgh will be devastated like Sherman left the south.

I remember before the season, Ben talking about the tough games they would face this year. Of course he did not mention the Saints. Frankly, I would not have considered us either. But now the game is upon us and the only thing I can come up with is that we do what other victors did x 2.

I said to myself, "the Tampa game is the type of game we usually lose" but that didn't happen. Now, a week later, I'm saying the same thing and hoping for the same outcome. It just worries the hell out of me that the SB champs have only won 2 games. I just don't want them to get # 3 this week but I know the Steelers, the media are licking their chops for a Steelers' victory at Saints expense.

I see one of the following headlines already:

"Saints win vs. Cowher's soft Steelers"

or...

"Steelers put their mojo on vs. overachieving Saints."

Look folks: We're Rodney "Fleur de lis" Dangerfield until we represent the NFC in the Big Dance.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. The Steelers are a good team that turns the ball over too much. If they don't turn the ball over, we'll probably lose. If we do lose, I'm not going to mutter 'SOS' or question anyone, just look ahead to beating the Bengals next week.

I'm glad Roth's starting at QB for the Steelers rather than C. Batch. I honestly believe this gives us a better chance to win. I just don't think he's (Roth) is 100% yet from that concussion.

As long as we don't get behind early, and we play error free ball, we'll beat Pittsburg.

They will play us very disciplined initially because they are a good "bad" team.

If they get behind early, reality and desperation will set in, and that's when they will see any flicker of a 9 or 10 string run evaporate.

When that happens, Roth will force things, just like he did against Denver.

Payton will have our guys prepared. He'll make sure they know what's at stake for us, as well.

Payton will simply take what Pitt gives us on Offense, play field position on ST, and smart, disciplined D - That's this team's identity.

I second geuss the Saints, and I hate myself for doing it but I can't help it. Payton will have us ready to play and hopefully we will execute.
I'm predicting Saints 27, Steelers 14

I just don't think that Ben R. is the same this year because of the departure of J. Bettis. Say what you will about him, but that type of leadership and veteran know how is a huge loss. They knew what to expect from him, and while W. Parker is a good RB he is no J. Bettis, of course Parker has the ability for the long runs on every play Bettis could block and run very well. It seemed like they were on a mission last year after a disappointing start. I sure hope we beat them exactly like we beat T.B, the only thing is I hope we go for over 100 on the ground.

I just wish they would have told me ahead of time.

I'm thinking this would be a saints win, for the same reason that a lot of teams beat the stillers. Teams are using them as a measuring stick....the defending champs get everybody's a game. The saints want this one to let themselves know who they are, not the pundits. I expect a hell of a game. I also know that this is a game like the baltimore game......as I was saying leading up to that matchup, the saints can afford to lose this one. It is a non conference game, and, saying the team is going to lose before the end of the season.......this is one they can afford to lose. I wuld take a loss this week over a division loss......a loss to dallas, NY or washington, or even another home loss. So I am not sweating this game so much. I suspect a NO win is coming for the reasons i stated above,,,,,but will not be hurt by a loss.

Our RB's are banged up.......100 on the ground is not likely. Actually to win, the saints need to torch the secondary. That would be the steelers, oops stillers, top weakness on d.

I said that I hope we beat them like we beat TB which was torching their secondary. I was just hoping that we would get 100 on the ground, I know that it is not likely. I was actually hoping that they might rest Deuce a little more if he is not close to 100%. I just don't want him to reinjure himself but I will trust the people that make the big bucks to make the decisions for us.

I agree that the "bus" had a huge influence on Pitt, but they lost more than just him: Randall El and a few other key players, as well.

I'm not penciling in a win for us, but many Saints fans just don't seem to able to accept that this Pitt team is not nearly the same team it was last year at this time - Maybe we're just too "snake bitten."

Roth is not their only problem. I still think they can beat any team in the league, but they have to bring their A game to do it.

That's only happened once this year against KC, and KC was in a funk themselves when that happened. I seriously doubt they would beat KC now.

Amazingly, they are 0-3 against teams with winning records when they've played them this year. They are also 2-5 on Grass and 1-1 on turf. They'd probably stand a better chance of beating us if we were playing on turf.

Next, they're giving up on average, 22 points a game and we're scoring 25. They're scoring 22 PPG, and we're giving up 20.

I don't expect it to be easy, but right now, WE ARE THE BETTER TEAM.

If we play error free, and solid D, we win.

Could be wrong - It wouldn't be the first time. I just think if we can make them press, it's over.

Do you think our defense is better than Denver's? Would Denver have won that game without 6 Pittsbugh tunrovers?

For one, saying "if they don't turn it over" is like us commenting that the Haslett teams "if they just didnt make stupid mistakes" would win. Roethlisberger is making poor decisions now. It's not a fluke. They throw that many picks. It's their fault. It's who they are. So saying "if they don't turn it over" is like me saying "if our CBs play like Champ Bailey". The CBs aren't as good as Champ Bailey and apparently, right now, Roethlisberger is playing pretty darn awful as well. That's who he is. You can't just dismiss part of it.

Secondly, you put the ball in the air 54 times, interceptions happen. You also can't just casually dismiss them. Most decent NFL QBs get intercepted at the rate of 1 every 30 attempts. 2 interceptions in 54 attempts would be expected and not unusual in the least.

Thirdly, Denver's defense had a very poor game. They hold New England to 7 points (without any turnovers), but then turn around and drop 400 yards and 20 points to Pittsburgh?

Fourthly, we've already played a better passing offense then the Steelers, one that doesn't have turnover problems.....

and we beat them, 27 - 24

So yeah

:dunno:
