I haven't seen this posted anywhere yet. It's a good story about Delhomme by someone who has apparently been covering him for a long time.

Fans turned against Jake last season like they have turned on no other athlete in the 29 years I've lived in Charlotte. As tough as his departure is for him and his organization, cutting him made sense.

He will play in the NFL next season. Former Panther coaches are scattered across the league. They've seen the level of his craft. They will tell their employers.

The rest is here.

I've always had positive feelings about Delhomme. I've never met him, but I've got plenty of family in the Breaux Bridge area who know him, and they have nothing but positive things to say about him and his folks. I hope he lands on his feet, and I'm glad I won't have to root against him twice a year anymore.

if he is content to hold for extra points and mold young QB's, bring him in!

I really liked Jake until he started his trademark whining at the officials. But he really is a classy guy and a gritty football player.

As for his leaving the Saints, can anyone really blame him? With Haz as stubbornly in love with AB as he was, I would have gotten the hell out too. I was happy to see Jake have the success he deserved when he went to the Panthers. I wasn't happy for the Panthers, but I was for Jake personally. :)

Exactly. What is he going to do in that situation. Just sit back and watch AB lineup behind the wrong guy and smile all day? He had a chance to be a starting QB in the NFL and he jumped on it. He would have been stupid to not do that.

I think Brunel needs to go after seeing his performance against the Panthers. Jake isn't a guy I would want to depend on for winning but he is definitely a serviceable backup.

Why would you want Jake Delhomme molding young QB's?

its sad but Delhomme is done.. God forbid Drew goes down, i wouldnt put my money on Jake being much of an upgrade over Brunnell at this point.. if we're looking for better play out of our back-up QB then there are far better options on the market than Jake Delhomme

In fairness, I don't think we ever saw AB line up behind the wrong guy. That was a backup in pre-season. Geeze, what was his name? He looked like AB 2.0.

I agree that there are better options then Jake out there.

I disagree that Brunnell is better though. Did you watch the Panther game this past year when Brunnell started? It was pathetic.

i wasnt that impressed with Brunell either but to cut him some slack he didnt play or practice much with the starters.. considering what i've seen from Jake on a team with all its starters i cant say i'd be too sure about that.. Jake a few years ago maybe, not the Jake Delhomme right now

Ah yes....Thank you.
