I just got finished watching Reggie's highlights in college and I have to say I was completely surprised at what I was seeing.

Evereyone has been talking about how he can't go east and west like when he was in College. Well, I just watched a 10 minute video of Reggie and on his highlight reel he rarely cut the ball outside and when he did he cut it out he cut it right back inside at the first chance. Why did this change? He did not loose his vision overnight! It has to be coaching......but why would Payton coach him to not cut back? I have no idea. I am completely confused as to what happened. After watching that video,I know he has to be seeing those holes................really weird.

Also, half of his highlights were passes and most of the passes on the reel were deep passes, something else we haven't seen at all this year minus 1 play against the panthers for 30 yards. Why are we ignoring this set of reggie's skills he posesses?

Coach has done a terrific job thus far in alot of ways, but after seeing this video, I'm not sure if we are using Reggie as well as we could. I'm not calling anyone out on our staff, I'm just thoroughly confused right now!

Anyone have any explainations for me?

its a decoy, by having teams see he always, always cuts it out, when we need reggie he will cut it in, we havent really needed reggie to do this yet, but its all payton giving teams some film on bush, before we unveil the real reggie bush, again i said it before and will say it again, reggie is the greatest player ever in the NFL..................

I hope you're right but I don't think that's the case. I think the problem is he's not seeing the hole fast enough and when he goes to it, it closes up. He's not used to the speed of the game yet. It may not be until next season when we see Bush really break out.

Saving the good stuff for the playoffs?

I really have no idea...kinda dumbstruck by the observation. How many games were in the highlight reel, and against what kind of defenses...

I've thought about it too...no explanation...don't really care though...

We're 6-2 with one of the most talented player from the draft not putting up big numbers. I fine with it.

One thing I do know is Payton is all about the TEAM effort and not about individual performances, example is after the best game of the year so far by Brees against Tampa last weekend, Payton said "And the quarterback played well, too". Maybe he doesn't want to rely on one guy to win games for him... I'm speculating at this point...

Why would you purposely sabotage a weapon when the W is not decided? I don't buy the whole "he's being held back" thing.

I still don't get why we haven't used him on go routes against safeties and LBers yet?????

I don't know how the speed of the game has anything to do with vision. If there's a hole and Reggie sees it he's fast enough to exploe through it. There has to be another answer!

Where did I day anything about the speed of the game.

I was wondering what kind of sampling was in the film, was it from 2 or 3 games or 10? Was it against 3 down lineman or 4, or both? Was it a stacked box (8 guys to stop the run)or a spread field (nickel and dime packages)?

About the deep go routes, I would like to know why we haven't tried that with him, also. He's so fast...he probably outruns most DB's and LB's, on sprint route.

No offense earlier.......must have misread your post.

Anyway, it was against alot of teams. As far as the alignment, the highlight reel was too fast and at bad angles to see that. But, a cutback lane is a cut back lane and to see him passing them up now when he didn't miss a crack in college is strange. Vision is not something you loose when coming into the NFL.

I'd have to agree with you about the cut backs and the field vision, because the way he's been running the ball at times it appears he doesn't recognize them fast enough or he's looking the other way.

We have to believe that the coaches know what they're doing, although it does bring up a different angle to the 'why can't Reggie run" threads.

Good observation on the game tape, Chi.

P.S. How's Chicago? I was just there last week, Oak Brook area... You live there or just from there?

I actually live in Old Metairie now.....I went to College in Chicago and lived in the Loop, 2 blocks off Michigan Avenue right across form the Public Library. Great City, very cold!

I was at the game where Brooks flipped over the Bears defense for a score in the game when we came back from 17 down to win. It was great to see Bears fans go from obnoxious to basically sitting on their hands!

As far as the CHI-TOWN part of my name, I just never changed it back when I moved back.

Didn't get to see much of the city when I was there, what a shame.

Snow flurries last thursday...Brrrrrrrrrr...glad to home.

I honestly think he may be nervous of taking a big hit....until he gets popped and realizes that its nothing, he wont be the same reggie.

I bet you also saw how well he followed his FB too huh? Alot of the plays for bush were delayed handoffs and draws at USC and when he's in the backfield for a normal handoff he usually has a Fb in there with him. I think the reason why he is having problems is because he is shying away from contact. ALot of the types of handoffs we give him is very similiar of how USC drew up running plays for him. when you watch him in USC and now in the NFL he looks like 2 totally different players on hte field. Maybe it's his confidence or him fearing a big hit... but we really need to figure out what's exactly is the problem.

I don't want to jinx him, but I think he's really going to step it up the second half of the season.

My head hurts. Reggie has not played well this season, lets all face it. If we had another back (Maroney for example), then we would be 7-0. Reggie needs to seriously step it up. Almost every rookie has better stats than him. In the end, the W's are what counts, and we have that, but not with Bush's help.
