The wife and I are remodeling the kitchen and I double measured everything before we ordered EXCEPT for the height. I didn't measure it at all :\ Totally skipped... yep.. I did. Instead of an 8' kitchen, we have a 7'8" kitchen. 4 whole inches. Well, our pantry is 90" tall that we ordered and we only have about 92" to work with. Is there any possible way to stand this thing up? I thought of taking the subfloor out and putting it between the beams but they're 24" wide and so is the pantry. I may be SOL :(

Can anyone give me hope?

Kinda hard to say for sure without seeing it ... :idunno: ... 2", it oughta geaux.

Its gonna be tough and I can not think of a way to stand it up. What is the ceiling made out of? If it is sheet rock, then it should not be too hard to take out a section and patch it when done. That would be easier than tearing up the floor.

Here is his problem. The ceiling is 92" and the pantry is 90". But when he tries to stand it up and it is at an angle, it will be more than 92".

Will the floor be easier than the ceiling?

Drywall is cheap. You could tear out the ceiling above it and use crown or you could cut off the bottom supports right under the base of the cabinet. Stand up the cabinet and then shim it using whatever material you need to get it as high as you can and then screw it in. Rip down the kicks and re-install.

I already put the ceiling tile up, so yes :)

Our flooring is just plywood ATM

You're only going to get 3/4" out of the plywood and that isn't enough, but by now I'm sure you've already figured that out.

I hope you're not cutting floor joists because lifting a suspended ceiling is easy most of the time.

How do you know it isn't carved out of a Sequoia trunk or something. :jpshakehead:

:hihi:
I don't, but there are two things in play here.

1st, as a former warehouse manager for a premiere local furniture company, I'm well aware that cabinets can be disassembled, as they've been assembled once already. It's simply a matter of reversing the process to a point where the chunks are small enough to reassemble when they are where they're supposed to be.

2nd, I really hate being ignored.:angryrazz:

Cut the back corners off and then when you stand it up it should clear. Cover it up with base.
