I know over the past couple weeks there has been a lot of speculation about Deuce's knee being hurt. Several people have stated that is why his carries have dropped recently. Has anyone heard any new news about it? I think running Deuce down Pitt's throat with Deuce would be ideal, but if he can't play at 100%, then I think Bush will have a break out game. I would love to see Bush destroy former USC teammate Polumalu.

But I really want news about Deuce? Anybody?

A thread a couple of weeks ago said WWL was reporting that Deuce was limping and having some trouble playing in practice. Nothing said this week though. They sure didn't give him a bunch of carries last week. Must be something to it?

The story originated 2 weeks ago when it was reported Deuce's knee was sore and a little swollen

All of us had a stroke in unison.

Then Kenny said its been doing that all year so its not a big deal. Obviously he's been able to play thru it.

He'll just have to cope with the soreness.

Duece is a beast, he'll play on it and keep telling the coaches he's ok as long as his X-rays show Negetive.

He's not hurting the team by playing on it either, seems like it's exactly the Opposite.

I agree 100%. I wish we'd give him the ball 30 times a game. I think we should let him carry us, along with smart play-calling, to the championship. He is the kind of back, better than Larry Johnson, that can carry a team easily, but we don't even need that. But he can provide power and consistency..

No, Deuce cannot carry the ball right now 30 + times, unless you want his knee to explode.

And, when he was at his best he was no where near Larry Johnson's league. When Deuce is at 100%, he's a top 10 back, but LJ and LT are at a different level than every other back in the league........it's not even close!

I wouldn't say he's not even close when he was at the top of his game. He had over 1600 yards rushing a few years ago and somewhere around 2350 total yards (and the final two games of the year he sprained his knee so he got fewer touches).

I disagree!

While Deuce has great balance and strength and good speed, LJ has all of that with more power, better balance and top end speed. The guy makes a rediculous play every game.

I am very greatful we have a RB like Deuce, but if you call it without a bias, Deuce at his best, simply cannot do the things LJ and LT can do.

LDT is very very special... an hybrid back between Barry Sanders - M. Faulk - W. Payton... the guys is alrdy in the history book with 18 consecutive games with a rushing TD !!!! Deuce is not in the same class...

But, I think that Deuce before his injury was as good as Johnson is now. In 2003 Deuce had 9 consecutive 100 yds games just like Johnson in 2005... He had the same power, speed & vision Johnson is displaying... Johnson is a younger and healthier Deuce version, but in my opinion before his injury Deuce was in the same class as Johnson.

If BUSH stop running East and West and run out of bounds he is not accomplishing anything. If he go East or West he needs to find the cut-back lanes and explode through them. If he can do that and run between the tackles full speed ahead this guy will be awesome. I hope he can get things together and explode in this Steelers game. COME ON REGGIE!!!

Payton has said in the past he watches the number of touches for Bush and Deuce. Haslett used to run Deuce in the dirt with 30+ touches. There is no doubt that has a negative affect on rb's. look at jamal anderson and terris davis, both had big years followed by season ending injuries. then you get a lt in san diego...crazy

Deuce has never been Larry Johnson caliber. Johnson is running right now like the best back in history. This guy has superb power, and vision. Deuce and Johnson have the same ability, but run differntly. Johnson runs more like a slasher, he hits wholes hard and fast despite his size. Deuce does the pitty pat to the whole thing looks for a crease then explodes and breaks tackles. I wish he ran more like LJ.

It was mention on wwl a few weeks back that it was probably scar tissue causing the problem. They also said it may have to be scoped later.

Deuce looked good on that touchdown run against Tampa last week, but otherwise he didn't have a lot of holes. He doesn't look like he's limping around out on the field. I'm sure there will be soreness in his surgically repaired knee all season, but on the other hand he's definitely the more effective runner if compared to Bush. It would probably be unwise to give Deuce more than 20 carries a game right now, but he definitely needs to be our main running back, not Bush. Bush has been very good as a receiver out of the backfield, and of coure he needs to get some carries, but I thought he had a few too many carries last week when he was clearly not effective as a rusher. At any rate, I expect against Pittsburgh that we'll be setting up the run with the pass.
