So, is Brees (+7.2) back to his best? If this performance is anything to go by, the answer is a resounding yes. It didn’t matter if Brees was blitzed or not, he just went to town on the Seahawks’ secondary with a virtuoso display. He actually completed more passes (75 percent) when pressured compared to when he wasn’t (64.5 percent) as he displayed all the tools of a Super Bowl MVP.
On the other side of the fence, one performance really stood out for all the wrong reasons. The Seahawks targeted Jabari Greer (-2.4) deep, and for the first time in a long while he couldn’t deal with it. He was beaten by the three main Seahawks receivers deep and ended up giving up eight of the nine balls thrown his way for 169 yards. Really bad day at the office, and one that can’t be a trend considering the consistent lack of pass rush the Saints generate.
On a better note defensively, the safety pairing of Roman Harper (+2.5) and Usama Young (+2.8) had an excellent day. Harper, as the in-box safety, made two big defensive stops and sniffed out some runs plays. Young, the deeper of the two, allowed one reception for 3 yards and broke up two passes. So much for the strain of losing Malcolm Jenkins and Darren Sharper for this one. Young put a case forward that he can be a starter in this league.

I sang Greer's praises last week ---> http://www.saintsreport.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3495669#post3495669

but he had a terrible game against the Seahawks and was very much unlike the Greer we are use to. Hope everything is alright and gets back to form.

This just confirms my thoughts on Young as being a good Safety after seeing him in some capacity this season and playing lights out Sunday.

PFF is right, our pass rush has been dismal. We need to find a way to get to the QB starting on Turkey Day tomorrow.

IMO, the offense keeps on pace with its recent resurgence and lights up the Cowpatties.

As long as we can protect #9 I like our chances of putting up a 40-burger against the 'Girls. Their secondary is TERRIBLE, and their ILBs can't cover our TE's.

Their pass rush masks their inability to cover on the backend, but once you block Ware, Spencer and Ratliffe you can tee off on their back 6.

Scott Shanle (-1.2) was poor prior to injury and whilst this game was an improvement on last weekend against the Steelers (-3.7) it is still another poor showing, baffling that the Saints continue to play Shanle over the linebackers who outperformed him in his absence. Shanle missed two tackles on Sunday against the Panthers and generally struggled to get off blocks. Shanle doesn’t appear to offer anything in any facet of the game (negatively graded for the season run defense, pass coverage and as a pass rusher) and younger players like JoLonn Dunbar would surely offer more to the Saints’ aggressive defense.

Ouch, and it's pretty hard to argue.

We gotta be able to
1) Protect Drew
2) The BIG uglies have to create holes for the HB's
3) Protect the ball, no turnovers
4) No easy points!!
5) WIN AT ALL COSTS!!

So these guys know more about Defense than Gregg Williams?

Every game is a win at all costs right now. That is weird coming from a 7-3 team, but we can't afford to drop to 3rd in the division. Too many teams have 7 wins this year in the NFC.

One of the pass breakups usama made is a prime example why he doesn't play more. He had a clean area to break on the pass and he hesitated just a bit missing out on the pick.

Usama can play but his ball skills and instincts are not on par with the man he replaced

Usama has filled in for injured players @ several DB positions this year.
I am not saying he always played perfect by any means, but he is a pretty serviceable backup most of the time and he is valuable on ST.

Meh, its not a trend. Just caught him on a bad day. Every player has em. Even Revis.
