If only they spelled his name right on the poll, I bet he would have gotten 99%.

Good find, JetsFan. :9: Also, nice of you to post that article at SSF... even though it speaks highly about "The Rexter."

I believe Sean Payton will ultimately go down in history as one of the best head coaches in NFL history. The reasons:

1. He praises players in public; never reprimands them in public.

2. He's NOT wishy-washy. Players know where they stand, and he's fair & firm with them.

3. Although he has made mistakes, he LEARNS from them, and adjusts accordingly.

4. His philosophy of "putting the BEST players on the field" is extremely important. Coach Payton will cut a high draft choice, and promote a UDFA ...in a heartbeat (if necessary).

5. He has a GREAT working relationship with the GM & Owner (...not an insignificant factor).

6. He is focused, and never downplays an opponent. If you listen to him before and after a game, he NEVER has a "big head," and always looks for the opportunity to give the opponent credit. I don't recall Coach Payton ever whining & moaning after a loss... and he certainly doesn't get smug after a victory.

7. He puts a PREMIUM on players with a good work ethic AND high character.

Add it all up, and who WOULD NOT want to play for Sean Payton? :idunno:

There more, but the above are the things that stand out in my mind right now.

:gosaints:

LOL, Jeremy.

Jetsfan115 is trolling with a start like:

"A total of 279 players were polled from across the league, and Ryan received nearly one quarter of the votes."

Ryan huh?

Some of these folks must have very dead message boards.

its an article from my jets board, but figuring that payton was on the list I thought I'd share it

We got a keeper in New Orleans.....here's to him having a Tom Landry or Don Shula type long term career here.

Rex Ryan is a Parcells wanna-be in the sense that he loves the media attention like Tuna and Mike Tomlin always looks liked he jacked up and PO'ed. (or at-least every time I see em)

I wonder how much of the voting has to do with the TV exposure of the HBO Hard Knocks had to do with the results? I question this publicity poll as a ploy to get more people who care about the jets to watch the the TV show and it obviously worked as proved by the OP. How did they go about polling 200- some odd players and for what teams did the players play for? This poll is giblets.

I'd EASILY wanna play for Coach Payton over those 2, but of course I am totally biased.

Sounds good.

I sometimes wonder about some of our posters.

Like you, obviously a Jet fan, and GreenBayFan.

You are both civil posters, but since we don't play either team, it gets curious to a drunk dog like me.

The logical answer seems to be that you folks want football discussion, and don't get that on your own team's message board.

And if your post, as a Jet, starts with the word "Ryan" in it, it seems like a Jet baiting us.

No offense. Stay with us.

I get the impression that SP is more of a hard *** than Ryan. SP is more of a Parcells clone than anyone. But he's a bit more centered than Parcells was.

no worries

I wonder how many were QBs, or even just offensive players?
