I wasn't sure where to post this, just looking for a little help with a NFL contact issue. If this needs to be moved please let me know. It is a very sad story, and I need some help.

My husband coached my son's youth football team this year. We were the Giants (I know we are Saints fans but we didn't get to pick)!! On September 29th we recieved a devestating phone call one of our "boys" was struck by a car while riding his bike with a friend (also on our team) after school. Mason had to be airlifted to Vanderbilt children's hospital... He was in a coma for 10 days, we prayed as a team, with his family, we begged for a miracle that we did not get and Mason passed away on October 9th. Mason was a beautiful, vibrant, 9 year old boy... he loved his family, teammates, and football. Mason was the only child to two of the most loving and caring people that I have ever met. Our hearts are forever broken with the loss of such a sweet and innocent life.

The little boy who was with him at the time saw the accident... he has been devastated as well :(

It is truly the most heartbreaking experience that anyone can go through.

What we are trying to do is get someone from each nfl team to donate a jersey for his parents with his number 21 and Leathers on the back, someone already sent them a Chicago jersey. You can type in Mason Leathers and Bowling Green KY in google, you will see the story. If anyone can help me with contact info or knows who to forward this to please help us out...

Thank you so much!!
Nissy

We are trying to cover the walls in their basement with Mason's stuff, and just trying to show them how much they are loved... He absolutely loved football :) just another way to support them through this awful time.

Perhaps try contacting each teams individual PR office?
The information should be on their sites.
Even if it's not a PR duty, they should be able to direct you to someone who could help.

I know for a fact that Sean Payton answers fanmail, so try sending him something to the Saints facility.

Very sorry for the loss, but I really think this is a meaningless gesture for a grieving family, why would they want 32 jerseys from diffrent teams on thier wall maybee a scholership in his name would be a better gesture and a living memorial to the child not trying to be uncompassionate i just dont get the jersey thing in this situation.

Quite frankly, it is not about you understanding. They have already decided this would be an effective show of support for the family, and they know them better than we do. I understand your reservations, but they are somewhat irrelevant in this case.

Well said.

From an article in the Bowling Green Daily News, if anyone would like to help out in a more substantive or traditional manner.
— An account to help with medical expenses has been set up at American Bank and Trust. Donations can be made at any branch in Bowling Green, mailed to the bank at P.O. Box 688, Bowling Green, KY 42102 or pledged over the phone by calling 796-8444.
A very sad story, and I wish all those willing to show support to this family in whatever way they can the best of luck.

Very sad story and I know the pain that goes with losing a child filled with life and filled with dreams. I lost my 9 year old nephew to a accident just days before his birthday. He wasn't my son in a actual fathered way, but i took him under my wing cause his father was not around and he looked to me as a father.

I tried something similar with the Saints with no luck, but i didnt really know how to do something like that back then, but i finally got his school to name a memorial in front of the school with a bench with his name on it and a tree planted to stay there forever.

I go by there and i see Zachary Moss and i dont feel as much pain, but the pain never goes away. I think its a great thing your doing and i wish i knew how i could help.

God Bless his precious soul.

Thanks for the very meaningful replies, I have sent something to the Brees Dream foundation, and will try Sean Payton as well. I have also sent one to the NFL and the Giants organization. We held a team fundraiser and raised over $6000 to help them out with their medical bills.

They are really a very special family, and if you knew how much football means to them you wouldn't question what we are trying to do. It meant the world to them when they received the one jersey from Chicago. Yes it is just a jersey and it won't bring Mason back, we all know that. But we have spent hour upon hour with them and we do know what will help them. If anything helps them smile even for just a second, I will do it in a heartbeat. Thanks to all of you who have shown your concern for the family. I will keep trying to do all that I can :) and maybe someone will hear...
