Sorry for posting on the SSF, but our Hornets need help!!!!!!

http://www.nola.com/hornets/index.ssf/2010/11/apparently_the_attendance_benc.html

Please, if you are in N.O. and you can, please go!

"The future of New Orleans' NBA franchise could again be uncertain.
If the Hornets do not average crowds of at least 14,213 for the next 13 games at the New Orleans Arena, the franchise can opt out of its current lease agreement with the state, according to Doug Thornton, vice president of SMG, the company that manages the Arena and the Superdome."

This could be a matter of 'don't know what you've got 'til it's gone'.

That would be a shame. :(

I love my Hornets, and if I lived back home I'd be a season ticket holder. I hope the crowd packs the stands and keep them in town, but these threats are getting old.

I hope we keep them, but if they leave I can cancel my league Pass subscription.

Winning cures everything... and if they can bring in a bonafied stud via trade I'll bet that would make the crowd come out. Also... Shinn is still the owner.

This article was not pushed by the team at all, they aren't complaining or looking to relocate. There are a lot of other places that are doing much worse, and where would they go? The NBA has ruled out KC, because of market saturation. None of the other options have viable arenas ready.. I'm not sure who's pushing this, but I suspect Shinn is trying to push this to get the sale back on track to the local minority owner.

Sounds logical.

I just hope we destroy the Bobcats tonight!

Going to all the games this season from here on out to the best of my abilities. With the exception of finals week of course. I mean tickets are pretty cheap! Rally Time!

I'll be home for the holidays so we will definately hit up a few home games. Every time the Hornets have come down to Miami the past few years, we've been there representin! Been some memorable games too!

Ive never really known the state of Louisiana for being a huge Basketball state. We have already had an NBA team here before and they moved.

Its kind of like Los Angeles wanting a Football team again. LA to me isnt a great Football city at all. LA is all about the Lakers and nothing but the Lakers.

Also, look at the Tampa Bay Rays. They had a great team last year and they couldnt get anyone to come to their games.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, these things just happen.

Louisiana is all about the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers Football. I dunno if that will ever change and any other pro sports team that comes here will just be "another team"

I am a huge fan of the hornets (often troll the hornets section of SR and also HR.com, don't post much though) and I would be very sad if they left New Orleans for good... It's a real shame.

I go see the Hornets every time they play the Nuggets in Denver and if I lived in NOLA I'd definitely be a season ticket holder :/

I think we have enough fanamania to change that. Give us a reason to drink, cheer, and party, and pretty much everyone I know will be there. It will just take some winning and time to catch on.

If this team is playing well like they are now and football season is over they will not have a problem getting attendance. Last year the Saints were in it for so long and by the time the season was over so was the Hornets (record wise). I really cant afford tickets right now but I will make it a point to pay for at least one game in this time.

I think that's been the growing problem with the NBA overall - competing with the NFL and playing simultaneously with them. As the NFL's popularity continues to just boom, boom, boom, people seem to be less interested in basketball - until when? NBA Playoffs - when the NFL season is long over, and even then, they're competing with MLB. Further, it's asking quite a lot for people to split their time and money between NFL tickets and NBA tickets during these economic times, which includes parking, concessions, and so forth, and weekday games are hard for working people to attend. I just think it's a mixture of things - even when you have a good team like the Hornets. In New Orleans & the region, many people will consistently choose football over basketball when given the choice.

We've been to a few games this season, and they've been great - plan on going to more down the line as well.

but its basketball...do they sell 4th quarter tickets, ill buy those cause thats the only intresting part of a basketball game
