I am trying to find someone to install a DirecTV Slimline SWM3 on my roof, or on a pole, wherever. There is only one guy on craigslist and he was kind of pricey. If anybody knows someone let me know!

Is it new service or a move? Directv should do it for free.

i just need the satellite installed on my roof. We don't need to get DirecTV involved =P

Do it yourself. With a little patentience, you can get that baby aligned better than they would most of the time. I've done plenty, especially after Gustav. Word got around that I was doing it. I would be happy to share my method if you are interested.

You have all the equipment? I might be able to arrange it for free if you let me in on what it is you're trying to do. I'm under the assumption there is no "free" dtv anymore. Thoughts?

My guess is he is planning on using a legit box or 2 from another account, and has an extra dish. I am assuming he has the parts as well, since he has the dish. I know a few people who do this, and it is much cheaper if you can find a family member to go in with you. When I had directtv, my living room box was actually activated and under my dad's account, from houma.... He gets the Sunday Ticket! If in the same region, the boxes work no matter what house they are in.

Are you in the NO area? If so, I would be willing to lend a hand. I'm between jobs now until jan. and am getting seriously bored. BTW, my price is a beer or two while we work! Just let me know. If you are not close, I have very creative ways to get the dish pointed without buying anything extra, like sat. finders, so I can share. For instance, bring a laptop with you on the roof, with a live webcam directed at an inside tv on the setup/signal strength menu. This way you can tell when you are getting "hot", without having to have a human screaming assembly line from inside to out

I might be doing this method that Claw speaks of. Anyways I have had a few guys on here confirm what other forums are saying, a SWM requires a meter to do the install. I think I will have to just hire that craigslist guy. If somebody else on here wants to do the install for $100, let me know =)
