I'm really excited to hopefully see Meachem get some more playing time next season as I really like what he brings to the offense. He's great after the catch, but he doesn't always look like the most fluid athlete although he has great speed. He's a very good receiver, but I was very surprised to hear about his drop to targets ratio, especially since a lot of people think he make Henderson expendable and Henderson has a problem with drops. But it's a good stat to hear...

Wow...only dropped 6 passes so far. Devery dropped 6 passes I think in his first game with the team. We do need to see what he can do when he has more playing time. He has to be locked up after this year, although Brees is the first one to get a new contract.

Meachem is one of my favorite players to see on the field. I get excited when I think we might target him. Similar feeling to the one I used to get from watching Bush circa mid-season 2006.

The only problem with Meach is he needs to stay healthy. He had that bum knee his rookie year and the toe last year. If he can stay healthy, I think he can become a top-10 receiver.

I don't know about top-10 because I just don't see him as a fluid enough athlete as some of the other guys, but he can definitely be a very solid receiver. And although the big play wasn't really there this season (as it really wasn't with anyone), I though Meach showed a lot more complete game by going over the middle and comeback routes rather than always running the go. Definitely has a lot of talent though...

I like Meachem alot better than DH even though I'm an LSUhomer. He just catches the ball better and seems to make bigger plays when given the opportunity.

BTW, Meachem and Big Sed are two of the very few five-star recruits coming out of high school that actually make a name in the NFL.

Not only does he always catch the ball but it's almost always a first down when he does. People criticize him a lot but he is a lot more accurate then Henderson or colston. Colston is def our red zone man though.

I have always liked Meachem and what he brings to the table. I think he is the type of guy who could excel and become one of the top receivers in the league if given a chance. He has shown the ability to catch the ball in traffic, to make plays over his shoulder and to gain critical yards after the catch. I think he's capable of being our best WR as he is almost like Colston and Moore rolled into one. I am truly hoping that he starts opposite Colston with Moore playing the slot. While I like our offense, I would like for us to go more with just a three-wide rotation of Colston, Meachem and Moore as I think it might add more consistency to what we do and allow some of our best playmakers more time on the field. Toss in Graham, Bush, Ivory, whatever back we add via FA/draft and we could do some damage.

Roddy White can look stiff at times. Fitzgerald does not always look as fluid as some of the other big time receivers. One thing about Meachem is that he is so good gaining yac. He does not look like the fastest guy until he blows by you. I do think he's capable of putting up huge numbers. Give Meachem 75 catches a year and I could see 1200 yards and a dozen touchdowns. He just has to be given that opportunity.

And he's great at stripping the ball, had to choose that pic for my avatar!

Absolutely agree.

I just told my husband about the 6 drops and he said, "I can't believe that." It does seem unbelievable. Why doesn't he have a bigger role then? I'm stumped.
