Hi, first post, been luking a while. Great forum.

I am thinking about going to the Dallas game. I am actually closer to Dallas than N.O. here in Shreveport. I was wondering how much harrasment I can expect wearing my saints garb. I have never been to an away game. If it was just myself and other adults, hey no problem, fire away, I will give as good as i get, but......... I am going to bring two of my young children. I really don't want them to have to hear any language they would not hear at home (at least not directed at them). I realize there are exceptionally rude, thoughtless people at all functions, just looking for some general advice. Thanks for any input.

I went to denver about 8-9 years ago, and it cant be anyworse than that !!! take some ear muffs for your children, unless your kids are like mine, they talk smack back and hearing it from a 5 year old seems to shut folks up !!!

Of all the away stadiums, as far as I know, only Jacksonville has "family only" sections where no one drinks (voluntarily) or cusses (voluntarily).

For obvious reasons, you'll want to skip the cheap seats. When you go to the Superdome, there are usually fights in the Terrace level and always have been. It's part of the game where the derelics, rowdys, poor men and drunks like to congregate. A lot of times the oppositions similar-styled fans will also be in those areas. So if you have a choice at at $35 seat or a $150 seat, you might want to consider paying the extra bucks for your kids' sake. ;)

I've been to so many away games that it doesn't bother me anymore. As a matter of fact, I LOVE IT!!!

The worst experience I had was at a bar, NOT at an actual game. Dallas/Buffalo SB(don't remember which one). I don't care for either team, but I chose to root for Dallas in a Buffalo bar. See, I told you I love it. Fighting in the bathroom is rather strange IMO. I wasn't even talking smack cause I knew better. The guy followed me in the bathroom just because I cheered the first Dallas TD.

Just don't get too abnoxious and you'll be fine.

Every stadium and fan base is different. I was treated extremely well in Pittsburgh this weekend, though I would not have wanted my son to hear the things that have been said to me at the Meadowlands on a few visits there in the past. Baltimore was sketchy, too, but I've been treated OK at Redskins-Saints games. And the time I went to Atlanta, the crowd was about 50/50 so not a true road game experience.

Worst experience I've had at an away game (and I've been to a lot) was in Buffalo. I was about 14-15 years old. It was during a snow storm and every time I stood up to root for the Saints, I was pelted with snow/ice balls. Classy. But, I got the last laugh as the Saints won.

If you can deal with a little good-natured razzing, you're not going to have a bad time at Texas Stadium. For my money, Dallas is the best place to see a Saints game outside of the Superdome.

Yep. because no real fan would pay 125.00 for a ticket. I been sayin' this for months.

I dont think you can really shelter kids. I would like to see common decency be the rule, but the sad truth is many people are just apes. You find this out when you go to the restroom in a convienience store---your average person is not HOUSEBROKE.

However, I think most NFL stadiums are ok for families, except Oakland, which has a 2-tattoo minimum. This helps law enforcement to identify the various Raider fans, and keep tabs on their parolees. Football helps them do something other than sell crack. Their programs only have pictures, not words, except "yo." Their fight song is "BBBBBBBBBB BBBBBBBBBBBBB BBBBBBBBBBBBB" But every song is a fight song in Oakland.

Ok, enough fun. Lets get serious SAINTS FANS. America already loves us. We are already the best fans in sports. Does anyone disagree with this? Then we should be the coolest fans in all of sports. We should be part of the reason New Orleans TOURISM bounces right back.

1. talk smack, have some good natured fun, sure. Curse out opposing teams fans and yell at them to "go back home-" thats stupid. dont do it, and dont let your fellow WhoDats do it. When we lose or when we win, shake some opposing fans hands and tell em "good game," just like you do when you play. Thank em for coming and supporting our beloved N.O. "we'll get you next time, see you in the Quarter, i think its your time to buy, right?"

2. no one's trying to curb your free speech or force you to be un-ape-like, but for God's sake, dont pollute the air around you. Whether they say anything or not, people notice how you act. If you blame the beer, then youre an AMATEUR.

3. take care of other decent people around you. get to know your neighbors. if youre a big scary guy like me and you see someone bullying someone else, help them out.

4. and leave that bathroom like you would want people to leave the bathroom at your mama's house. BE FREAKIN HOUSEBROKE!

theres no reason why we cant be KNOWN as the absolute BEST FANS IN SPORTS.

Well, I think most everyone who buys season tickets and cheers on the Saints is probably a "real fan." Now, if you want to rephrase and say it is the roudiest section or the section one is most likely to get beer thrown them, then I would agree. I sit in the Terrace (on the Away side even) and love it.

But labeling fans ("real" or not) irks me a little. It's all persoanl taste as to where one sits.
