Hello,

I have been registered here for 4 years now, and I usually only post when the Texans and Saints are playing. I've been following the Texans pretty religiously and I have a rough idea about the team make-up of the Saints. Any FOOTBALL related questions about the Texans I'd gladly share with you.

1.) I do not know, nor do I care if Brian Cushing and Duane Brown used PED's. I'm probably going to repeat that answer a lot so I figure I would get it out of the way now.

How do you feel about Mario Williams' new role in Wade Phillips defense?

I documented the snaps that Mario Williams was in on the jets and I'll post them if you guys want but here are my opinions: At first after watching the Jets game I thought he looked very ordinary rushing the passer and didn't contribute much to the running game. After watching the Jets game a few times, I don't think that it's a lost cause in the least but I certainly want to see more. I do think his performance in the Jets game is being skewed largely by a run that Shonn Greene had for about 20 yards through an A gap, a gap which I can say with 90% certainty that was not his responsibility, but more the NT/MLB than anybody.

Bring back teh powder blue and red Oilers!

Love the throw backs but Bud Adams can die in a fire for all I care, and there is a 0% chance a team I root for will ever be able to wear those uni's again. Too bad.

Can you talk about Schaub a bit? It seems one minute he's held in high regards by the media, up there in the tier just below the top 3 or 4, and the next he's forgotten. Does he have the leadership and "intangibles" (as much as I dislike that word) to be a top level quarterback?

He does all you want from a QB. 4k passing yards, good TD:INT ratio, and he's great on bootlegs. Got a good head on his shoulders and I think the leadership is there. He needs a defense that can create more opportunities for short fields and then I believe it'd pretty much lay the "clutch" and "intangible" arguments to waste. Schaub has the leadership role down and he runs that offense no doubt. He's very cerebral but his deep ball is not his strong suit. To me, to win right now I'd probably take Schaub over some QB like Flacco or Ryan. He can do everything you need from a QB to succeed.

how is jj watt looking?

He looked pretty good against the Jets. They only played him about 15 snaps but he was doing good things in pass rush situations. Run defense, needs help but overall he's much farther along than I anticipated.

how do u feel about that guy pretending to be defensive coach that yall got from the cowgirls? how does Demico Ryans look coming back from his injury?

I am in love with the Phillips signing. I am thankful he was fired from Dallas when he was.

So far, everything looked decent out of Demeco. May be a half step slower in coverage but I can't complain about his performance given the injury he had.

Philips is a great coordinator, but poor head coach. I'd hope for your sake that if Kubiak gets fired after the season, that Philips doesnt get the head job.

My worry as well. If they work as a team then they'll team up again in 2012.

was going to be my question but since you already answered it how are brooks reed and joseph looking

Joseph we'll get a look at on Saturday (Possibly, has a groin issue going on right now). Training camp reports (given what worth they actually have) have Joseph bringing a lot of credibility and veteran presence to what was a really bad secondary last year. I am hoping that his "fragility" isn't an annual thing with him. He sounds like he's been a good addition.

Brooks Reed is definitely not playing too far past being decent for a rookie. His first series against the Jets reserves he had a tipped pass and a good TFL in the same series. After that he hit the QB a few times but didn't have much impact.

I don't want to hype up Watt too much, because I've seen preseason superstars turn out to be average when the whole game is going fullspeed, but man he gives me a lot of hope that this defense will do fairly decently.

EDIT: One player to watch is #92 NT Earl Mitchell. He plays at <300lbs so I am interested in seeing him going against real pros like Nicks and Evans.

where's your weak link? It's the secondary, right?

I don't get to watch many Texans games unless we play them.

I just want to say this:

All opposing fans should read this thread, specifically the opening post. That's how you post on an opposing forum on a gameday!
