Now that we have one it just feels weird to not be scouring the league for a new one.

It's been so long since we've been content at QB it almost feels unnatural.

I keep finding myself perking up my ears at every reference to Green/Huard and Garrad/Leftwich. I keep reading up on Shaub and Peyton Manning's back up, Sorgi.

I'm so used to looking for a QB that I don't know what to do now that we finally have one.

I guess I can look for LB'ers now. (Jonathan Goff - Vanderbilt!!!)

No I don't feel weird at all, haven't really been looking for a QB even though I am pleased with the upgrade to Brees. Ever since after the 2002 season I have been waiting for a flood of good defensive players (LB, CB, DT), I'm glad you can focus on what has been holding the Saints back the past 4 years now that we added Brees.

Isn't it nice and to top it off, our guy is:

1. The best free agent acquisition in the offseason
2. The best free agent acquisition ever by the Saints
3. Healing well and expected to get better as time goes
3. A fiery, inspiring, commanding leader on the field
4. Smart!!

I must be forgetting something, but I agree 100%

My list of needs is topped by corners then LB's, We haven't had corners since forever.

Who Dat!

This make me feel all warm and fuzzy. That's kind of weird. :worthy:

It's such a relief to know that, with Drew commanding this offense, you're never out of a game. When could we have ever confidently said that before?

Without my rose colored glasses on, I sincerely believe that we are just a handful of key players (3-5) away from being a serious contender for the next 5 seasons - year in and year out, just like the Pats have been... where we will not only be expected to go deep into the post season, but have a realistic chance of representing the NFC at the big dance...

... A good cover corner to compliment MM, a complete MLB that's also a playmaker, a good blocking TE, & quality depth along our D... And this will be a fun team to watch for years to come.

My variation on that that I have been thinking about lately is what it feels like to have a quarterback that I'm not afraid is going to blow the game on a foolish play. Its strange to be in the 4th quarter and not think that we are either going to blow a lead, or be unable to come from behind.

You are not alone! Coach Payton believe that too!

I was saying that with Aaron Brooks. If nothing else, the guy was unstoppable when he hit a hot streak.

The big benefit for me is being able to watch my QB drop back and not having to worry that something crazy is gonna happen....

It is kind of like looking for a new or first house for months and then you buy one and you feel like you are not doing something every day. I love this feeling

Weird...no...Ecstatic...yes...

Im not saying "wait till next year"...because there is so much to do THIS year...

But wait till next year...EVERYBODY is coming back offensively...this offense could be unstoppable...its shaping up that way right now, sans the turnovers.

I truly believe if we get some help on defense via draft/free agency we will contend for the SB in '07.

I want better starters and playmakers along our D-Line. We don't have any players there that can't be upgraded. Our so called great DE's only get 7-8 sacks each per year and the good ones get 10-14. Part of our problems on the D-Line are because we can't consistently get pressure on the QB, and we don't contain well on the outside runs, example Pittsburg game. I'd say Hollis Thomas is a keeper but we have to improve all positions on the D-Line and we also need more than one LB and CB.

Always a positive outlook

Wow and I thought the DL was a very strong unit. We could use a young DT but Grant and Smith are keepers in my opinion. Now we have Thomas in the mix and are getting great results. The only knock on Thomas is his age.

Good post about Brees. The "Cool General" has forced the winds of change for this team and the results are impressive. Alot of football to be played still but I am amazed how this team has played so far, especially the offense.

I too think we are a few good players away from being a legit Superbowl contender. If I were the coaching staff I would list our positions of need in this order: LB (2), CB, DT, and TE.

I like the idea of building through the draft other than FA, like New England did through the last few years. We are at a point where we can do that now. We could pick up one good player in FA, e.g. Briggs, Thomas, Clements, Samuel...and role players if needed but we need to fill positions through the draft. The new coaching staff did an awesome job in their first draft, lets hope they continue.
