Admits the off season drama, lost players, and draft picks; with all things considered: We have a roster loaded with talent. After the dust settles and clears, and we put all the distractions be behind us, suspensions expired, running on all cylinders, winning the NFC South. Eventually, earning home-field advantage through out the Playoffs. :mwink: (If you know what I mean) I can see it and believe it. Who Dat?!

There are many, but what do you think the toughest position battle, on each side of the ball will be?

I'll go with:
Defense: DB
Offense: WR
ST: K

I'm going to say the toughest roster spots to fill are:

1. Number 4 and 5 CB...doubt we keep 6, so someone looks to be cut that could play for another team.
2. Backup LB spots (will come down to ST abilities). We have veterans 2 deep all around...
3. Backup RT...Love Streif, but how can no one step up to challenge him after all he's been through?
4. Kicker (although I think Hartley gets the nod due to age and contract)
5. Number 4 and 5 WR spots (Arington, Morgan, Toon, Roby, Tanner). Highly doubt we keep 6, so 3 gonna have to be cut and hope to make the PS.

All of these positions are ones that I'll be paying close attention to in today's game. Also...the number #2 QB spot. I want to see how Chase and Mckown handle the leadership abilities and run the offense.

Just my two cents....your thoughts?

this is off topic, but I want to see how the staff handles different strategic situations. The flow of communication if you will.

I still think the WR position battle will not only be the best, but it may also the most important. With all the sets in our O, the 4th WR spot is like a starter spot. Meach's role and play was an important cog in the O's machine. Can we find someone who can duplicate his play, or will we have to adjust the scheme to compensate? Morgan and Roby have the deep speed, but Joe is young, and Roby has never proven himself as a WR. IMO, Nick Toon is a step slower, but has the size and some big play potential. Although Im not "worried" about Toon right now, for any rook, an early injury and missed reps has to hurt. Toon's injury may actually open the door for AA and/or Tanner. IMO, both are more possession type WRs, but they've been around and know the O.

Opportunity is knocking at the door. Even though its only the first game of preseason, I think the coaches wanna see who answers it first!

I am certain we keep six WR again this year. The Odd man out will be Roby. Probably for most of this year, Toon will be inactive on game days. We carry two Qbs, one Fullback. one full back on practice squad. one Qb on ps. I think we will be think on O tackle deph,,,C Brown backing up both spots,,,then we go very young with jones or someone else after that...Spots are there to keep the ^Wr though,,Tanner even though having good camp,,no chance to make the roster..barring massing injuries to the position

I agree Roby is likely gone. Also, I think Morgan edges out Arrington and/or Arrington gets injured and as a result, we have 5 active WR, going into Game 1:
Colston
Henderson
Moore
Toon
Morgan

and then WR roster, likely to vary after Week 1 and each subsequent week. Just guessing (predicting) the outcome.

*Personally, I am hoping that a sleeper rises to the occasion, as well.

I love Morgan's game breaking ability but i do not see him making the team. I think he's a high potential guy that has been a little over hyped on this board but doesn't have the hands to be a reliable receiver in our offense right now.

I'm not trying to over analyze a preseason performance, but i feel like its safe to say that he isn't quite ready yet.

As long as our offense is as explosive as it is, I'd prefer reliability at the receiver position over a riskier, more explosive prospect.

Cadet is playing his heart out tonite I like him!

I'm sure I'll get bashed for this, but during this game it almost seemed like they were alternating Cadet and Ivory in the 2nd quarter to see which would be the #4 RB. If Cadet continues to impress and gets a chance to show some inside running, I think that he can make Ivory expendable due to his versatility.

I think you read to much into that...Cadet was being brought in as the 3rd down back which is why he had 8 catches for 80yrds...didn't see to much running from him...if they wanted Cadet to be Sproles backup I could see it because PT and Ingram are the run game...who's Sproles backup as a 3rd down back if he ever sent down?
