Bo Schembechler reported dead

Detroit Free Press

Former University of Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler has died, according to reports from WDIV Local 4 and WXYZ-TV.

Last month, the 77-year-old Schembechler had a pacemaker and defibrillator installed after he had dizziness and other symptoms while taping his weekly television show.

The seven-time Big Ten coach of the year compiled a 194-48-5 record at Michigan from 1969-89. Schembechler’s record in 26 years of coaching was 234-64-8.

When Bo retired, the current Michigan players were 1 to 5 years old.
It may make it emotional for long-time Michigan fans, but it will not matter for the players.

...Au contrere- Apparently, Schembechler still kept an office on campus, was very involved with the football program and the current players would go to him as sort of a guidance counselor. He also kept a high profile with a local TV show, which he was taping when he passd on to the great locker room in the sky.....

Man, I really hope Sean Payton remembers this move in about 30 or 40 years, when the Saints are getting ready to play in Super Bowl 80. After leading the Saints to a few Super Bowl wins himself, he could time it out to where he passes away on the eve of the big game so we could keep that emotion going.....

DEAD SCHEMBECHLERS BREAKING UP

The Dead Schembechlers, a Columbus, Ohio-based punk band that adopted the name of the late Michigan coach and dresses like late Ohio State coach Woody Hayes, will continue with concert plans on Friday night. The band, featured in the Forde-Yard Dash on Tuesday, is headlining a "Hate Michigan Rally" in Columbus.

The Detroit Free Press reported Friday, however, that it will be the band's final show.
