Billy Davis interviews for Eagles defensive coordinator

Posted by Josh Alper on January 28, 2013, 11:21 AM EST

We shared earlier that the Eagles’ search for a defensive coordinator included a couple of coaches who have a pretty big game coming up on Sunday, but they aren’t limiting their search to members of the Ravens and 49ers coaching staffs.

The Eagles open Super Bowl week without a defensive coordinator and it doesn’t look like they’ll hire one until after the big game.

49ers defensive backs coach Ed Donatell has been linked with the job for a while and Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that a member of the Ravens staff will also be considered for the opening. Linebackers coach Ted Monachino is drawing the attention of the Eagles, although there’s no indication that they’ve requested permission to interview Monachino at this point.

Seems like they're interested in Grantham too:

Eagles haven’t contacted Georgia about Grantham, yet

As Eagles coach Chip Kelly looks for a defensive coordinator with “shutoutability,” one of the leading candidates continues to be a guy who has more than a little “shoutability.”

Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham has been on the short list since Kelly took the job. But as John Clark of NBC 10 in Philadelphia reports, the Eagles have yet to contact the Georgia Athletic Director, a prerequisite to officially courting Grantham.

Good, now we dont have to worry about them targeting Donatell or Tomsula after the Superbowl
