@AdamSchefter: Randy Moss said he's the greatest all-time WR. To which @JerryRice just said, "Put my numbers up against his numbers."

I gots respect for randy but best ever mmm..not even close. I love what Jerry rice said no trash talk. Just put the numbers up.

If Moss had Jerry's attitude and work ethic he just might have been the best ever. Moss is one of the best, but Rice holds that title all by himself.

If Randy had Young, Montana, and Gannon, as well as a solid coach to keep him focused this would be a none issue.

I am not saying Moss is the greatest, just saying that under different circumstances this wouldn't even be a question.

On pure talent he and a couple other guys are better than Rice. But no one worked harder and no one can match his resume.

To be fair I don't think anyone will ever stay in the league long enough to catch Jerry.

Agreed but doing it for that long and still maintaining a 75.6 yds/game average is just plain sick.

16 years in the league and he is still 5th All-Time on the yards/game list.
1 thru 4 are Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Torry Holt, and Marvin Harrison
with Lance Allworth 6th and Moss farther down the line at 16th a little after Colston at 13th.

This.

Based on pure talent alone, I wouldn't argue with his claim. But what made Rice so great was his incredible work ethic and desire to always improve himself.

Jerry Rice saw route-running and receiving as an art form. Randy Moss just out-jumped people to catch a lot of footballs.

Well he did have Brady and bill but he did not want to be there anymore.

And he put up big numbers with them. Also, I'm pretty sure he was practically begging the Pats to keep him from how I remember it.

He wasted several years in Oakland and the last three seasons were basically nothing as he bounced around trying to stick somewhere.

Jerry played until he was 42 so the numbers of course are there for him. That's insane on it's own merits.

Ik but that's the pats system only Brady is safe.

There is no need for a huge debate as it is simple, Jerry Rice is the greatest of all time, probably will be until the world ends. Like he said, just compare numbers.

Debates are always fun, becuase of the what ifs and what not. Talent wise moss is better but like we all agree work ethic it's rice. It's like now in the NFL talent only gets u so far.

So none of it is Randy's fault? Someone else had to keep him focused?

He actually has played with some decent quarterbacks. And who knows what kind of situation he could have found himself in had he not lacked discipline . . . had he been able to "focus" on his own. He could have been the best but he expected it to happen and because of that, he didn't work hard enough to make it happen.

Now acting like it did happen when really it simply didn't . . . that's pretty sad. Maybe one day he'll get some perspective and realize that Rice earned it.

(And I actually like Randy and always have. But he needs to be real. His biggest problem was always Randy.)
