A legit kick returner/punt returner.

I love Sproles to death, but we use him too much on offense for him to be a good consistent returner. And he a better punt returner than KR anyways.

But watching Jacoby Jones and Trindon Holliday this post season, and overall this season just highlights how critical special teams are. You can find those guys late in the draft or even UDFA.

Joe Morgan seems he could be a good returner but we dont use him there for some reason. We really need to focus on that positon, and special teams in general this off season.

Offense, Defense, Special Teams wins Championships!

I agree. We need a kick/punt returner in the worse way. maybe that guy is already on our roster but wherever we find him... we need him.

Kick coverage remains priority #1 for our special teams though.

With the plethora of RBs we have I don't see the problem using Sproles at the returner. Also Sproles didn't do the KR duties the last what half of the season? I am not happy with Cadet at all at that position.

Wow, so you mean the whole team???

Yes!

Look at 09, all phases of our team complemented each other. Our offense was awesome! Running and throwing the ball. The defense, although not dominant was very good, got turnovers, was physical and clutch. Very complementary. Our special teams was very solid that year, that was Roby's best year as KR, and Reggie was solid on the punt returns. Morstead was awesome.

I think you actually mean ST coach. :mwink:

We could put Mel Gray or Devin Hester back there, but if the coaching is lacking, he isnt going to do much.

I do.

Sproles will be 30 this year. We use him a lot in the passing game. We should give some of those touches to younger players to keep him fresh.

Hes the most used running back as Pierre/Ingram really have no bearing if hes on the field or not as he can be flanked to WR with any of them in the backfield.

Excessive touches in the return game can wear him out...this year would be the best year to crack down on his reps...especially in the return game if we are going to go back to having 4 backs on the roster.

Cadet already seems to be headed in the direction of fulfilling that role but id like to see some competition for him.

The problem isn't Sproles. There is virtually no blocking on our kickoff returns. Has to be scheme and coach.

Cadet isn't the guy IMO. He's not physically talented enough.

Good solid backup player but he'll never have the elite speed and burst needed to be a real threat on returns.

Sproles should be fine in that role this season assuming we put him back in it (and we should).

Sproles isnt fast enough, He has a quick burst but we need a burner

Isn't fast enough to do what? Sproles has a ton of return TD's in his career.

Return Kickoffs, returning punts are a different story thats like a really long delayed handoff. We need some one with real speed back there. I'd try Joe morgan
