Neilsen reported that Baltimore came in at number one and New Orleans came in at number 2, but that San Fran didn't even make the top 10 cities in the country. 2013 Super Bowl falls short of television ratings record - ESPN

This fan base is the worst in the country (along with Atlanta). From the classless remarks by Gore, to the crybaby antics by Harbaugh during the game, to this report, boy am I happy they didn't win last night.

Meanwhile I think I recall NOLA breaking a record for the % of people who tuned in to the '09 SB. I can't imagine not even making the top ten.

How is that possible? Your local team is in the superbowl, and you don't even watch? Unbelievable.

Going into stereotypes it's not like San Fran has a high percentage of football fans in the city.

does not surprise me in the least

Too many Silicon Valley nerds sitting in coffee shops blogging about their start-ups that made $600K in its first 2 months, then lost every dime of it plus $300K more in the last. Football? What's a football?

They literally don't care. I used to live out there. Even went to Candlestick when we shared the west. They go to Giants if the Giants are doing well. If nobody is doing well, it's really is just "ho-hum". There is no actual sports passion in that city. I guess it's uncool to be torn up over a loss. But they'll burn down neighborhoods and stab people when the teams do well.

Ah well, someday the San Andreas fault will open up into a sea and they'll drift away...
