Coming up in a min. It's on now.

Payton said that they are interviewing him.

He doesn't even interview until tomorrow. :rolleys:

I really think that this Ryan push in the media is coming from the organization to try to make other teams less afraid to let their assistants interview here because they think it's already a sealed deal.

Im wondering if it is coming from Ryan's agent, trying to drum up interest.

Its coming from somewhere but if he doesn't get this D-coordinator position its position coach or nothing.

Alot of this doesn't add up though. If this is so definite and hes so much of the front runner why interview other people other than to get their opinions.

Someone is throwing news out there. Payton went on mike and mike n cleared it up and yet there are still report coming out that ryan is likely to get hired.

Am I the only one that saw this thread's title and thought "I guess Grantham totally blew his interview"?

Kinda off topic but how many teams need DC's bow that the Eagles just hired one? Are we the only team in the league without a DC right now? If so I really hope the team takes it's time and picks the right guy. Even though I'm ready to see who it will be!

It was rumored that Todd Grantham was eagles top choice funny he is in Nola and now eagles hired sebody else , maybe we are gonna hire Grantham

Well, the Eagles tried to get an interview with Grantham and could not do it. They were also interested in Donatell but were likely denied permission to speak to him.

I am beginning to think Grantham may have been our man all along, and that Payton might have reached out to him even prior to the firing of Spags. I say that because I find it odd that the Eagles tried twice to interview Grantham but were unable to do so. Then we were able to get him to interview. Did Grantham know something ahead of time and make a possible interview with the Eagles seem inconvenient? I guess it is speculation on my part but I do wonder about it.

Either way, the Eagles were against the clock, not literally but just in terms of making sure they landed a coach. They interviewed Davis 10 days ago, and were waiting to speak with Grantham and Donatell. Since they could not, they had to move on or back to Davis, who is said to be a solid up and coming coach though I do not know a whole lot about him.

I don't think St. Louis has one yet, but they're expected to go 4-3, I believe.

That's possible, but it seems like a stupid move. 1) it's either this position or nothing for him, so he really has no leverage in doing this, and 2) creating a big mess in the media is certainly not the way to SP's heart. I have to think Ryan isn't that dumb.

Well, they already operate a 4-3 defense. That was the issue with hiring Rob Ryan. He wanted to operate a 3-4, and if he had to go with the 4-3, wanted to hire his own coaches since he was taking a huge risk by running a 4-3 defense. So, both sides just had to admit that it would not work out.

Last report is that have met with or contacted Dick Jauron within the last few days, but nothing has been finalized yet, and they are supposed to be using the 4-3 which was why according to reports, the Ryan thing fell through whether by his choice or theirs.
